Soul animal tie au - an offshoot of soul wings
everyone has a soul animal that represents them and get a part of their animal
they can summon that part at will or hide it away, but while hiding it away its still part of you and on your body as a mark/tattoo
for clarity purposes if your animal is so ambiguous you don’t know what it is or what you gain from it it’s also very hard to turn it off or see the mark/tattoo at all which makes it even harder to find out what it is
those with very obvious animal ties (eg. gain a whole new outward limb) have the reverse where they are basically forced to be very attuned
parts can range from yes soul wings, to catboys having cat ears, to magic soul exoskeleton, to see in the dark eyes
start out as a normal human but in childhood the signs come in slowly and then BAM (usually around 6 years old bc of lack of control)
people learn skills to control their soul animal ties young- the better control the faster you can switch and not accidentally bump into someone
some are super inconvenient for daily life eg: ACCURATE FOR HUMAN FLYING WING SPAN! so yeah some people by necessity tend to hide theirs so its not an uncommon sight to see people with and without visible soul animal ties
but if you go for long periods of time forcefully shoving your soul animal ties away it is bad for you
the less obvious part of the ties is that peoples personalities/instincts also gain animalistic qualities of their soul animal
the instincts are strong as children before the ties become obvious and they can be reigned in
sometimes people get TOO into their animal instincts. this is for comedy purposes. mostly.
soul animal ties also require upkeep like every other part of your body
Kaito - Dove soul wings. obviously

he tends to hide them in daily life because his wing span is gigantic because he can actually fly
when out his wings are additional 40% of his body weight (he needs to stretch as soon as he gets back from school before letting his wings free to make sure he doesn’t tear anything) (tore his back muscles a couple times as a kid) (first time he got his wings were so painful and his parents had him learn control really quickly and do a lot of physical therapy to adjust to his new limbs) (turns out doing a hand stand without wings and with wings is so different!! balance is all changed!)(at first just kept
his wings length are double his height
his bones are also lighter because of the flying bird thing but he doesnt notice
still uses glider as Kid because he doesn’t want it to be connected to his irl! besides no visible qualities help sell the illusion! annoying to hide his giant wing tattoos on his back in disguises tho (its annoying to fly over forests and shrubbery anyways open fields and large bodies of water for flying is optimal anyways)
his dad used to call him his little assistant and kaito would be his little dove in his performances it was ADORABLE
his birb instincts came in fast and hard
iff too in instincts he struggles to see glass? this is purely bc mk is a comedy and we need more comedy
imagine KID having to reveal his wings in a tense situation to not die
his KID coat is altered- actually all of his clothes are altered with slits so he can easily slip his wings through them if needed
kaitos instincts always liked his fellow doves as part of the flock but got so absurd levels after his dad died and mom left for america
he is very intune with his animal instincts due to his social network being 15 doves and also the nakamoris
sometimes his instincts surrounded by flock for long periods of time make him think of himself as a big bird and then he walks directly into a glass plane
this is a rare phenomenon because their soul tie needs to be 1)social 2)no humans around (which by that point already would be setting off instincts itself) (esp if child like imagine distressed baby animal sounds instinctively happening) and 3)around their soul animal’s animal enough to completely become entrenched
kaitos mental health is Not Good and he is the only one unaware of this even his doves worried about their big legged dove
gets depressed when fully alone
house was built to accommodate for his wings (along with Kid room) and roof has a landing area for him as a result (yes hakuba tries so hard to find evidence there lmao)

kept climbing trees obsessively for a better view as a kid before his trait became obvious and then started doing it again as conan bc he got tired of being short and would just climb high up on anything Ran is very done
doesnt tend to get too into his own instincts because hes too logical for that (or at least he thinks that ran objects and says theres so many times he gets into his head just doesnt notice bc he only thinks of logic)
