your limlife marching band au grabby hands tell me everything (or at least about bad boys)
I'm going to give you my opinions on all of them bc that's fun (fair warning I haven't actually watched LimL all that much since its release even though I do love it very much. So interpretations are somewhat hazy)
Mean Gills - Color guard. They truly just are. They're dramatic. They're basically the only group that isn't part of a twisted family dynamic like the rest of the band. In Scott and Martyn's senior show they have a dramatic flag/saber duet that ends with Martyn grabbing Scotts flag out of the air and stabbing him with the saber.
Clockers - Pit. Individually I don't know if they'd necessarily be pit but together as the Clockers? They're the pit section that you never see and is definitely participating in cult activity during practice. Scar plays Xylophone. Bdubs plays the gituar but everyone always says he plays the bass to mess with him. Cleo as the Pit captain does a little bit of everything, but definitely synth.
TIES - Impulse is literally named after the drumcorps he marched snare in. Him and Skizz did percussion together in high school. Need I say more. (Yes I do. Impulse is snare. Skizz is Tenor. Tango gets cymbals. Etho used to do marimba in pit but then betrayed them to join drumline. It was very hot band drama. He plays bass drums.)
Nosy Neighbors - Saxophones. You cannot convince me that Pearl isn't the saxophone playing the Wheezer lick in random situations while sitting in drill spots. Her and BigB have a game going where they sneak up behind people when everyone is getting ready and play off-tune stand tunes to scare people.
Bad Boys - Honestly I think what makes the band boys hard to pin down is that they're actually an inter-section alliance. They're bad boys by refusing to hang out with their own sections, scandalous. Joel is also a bass drum, he tries to fight Etho for the biggest one each year. Jimmy is a sousaphone. The Nosy Neighbors steal his things and laugh when he tries to chase them with his large ass instrument. Grian. Honestly you know what after writing this I've decided that he can stay a guardie. Because that's fun and he's also just as dramatic as Scott & Martyn. His preferred equipment is rifle.
