I made these a while back, but I meant to edit the second one, and never got around to it lol. Spoilers for the game Basilisk 2000 and some for Basilisk SNES ahead!!
idrk know why but i NEED to rant about basilisk SNES and basilisk 2000, rant utc
overall i do KIND OF believe what sagan hawkes said in his video about the games, but some stuff i think is pretty uh. wrong, i guess.
1. first, the basilisk dave saw while the SNES game was in development. i don't think the "recipe" was a list of things to gather, and instead a list of things to take off of the body itself. for example, the skin being uh. inexistent. would result in a slimy texture similar to that of say, an animal that burrows in mud or lives in caves, which is where most monsters would be (such as a basilisk). also, i believe that "three ribcage" part means three ribs should be removed. this is kinda weird, because to remove three ribs (instead of say, two or four) would mean that one side has one less rib than the other. however, i think that this ties into the idea of creation, since in the bible, adam has one less rib than eve does. this is symbolizing the overall idea of creating something and giving body parts (symbolizing energy, time, etc etc) to make sure it turns out perfect.
2. i think the basilisk cycle in the creation of the games goes on and on. david saw the basilisk, and i believe something in him died upon seeing it- much like how whatever died in the original devs (be it creativity, love, whatever)- and was obsessed with it over time. then, in the fashion of the torn knight from basilisk 2000, the knight (or, david) tried his best to help everyone with the famine (be it of creativity or food) and they ended up dying because he couldnt give them anything. it's kinda like the cycle of abuse, in a weird way.
overall, i do find the games (and sagan's video) super good. i think i really liked the idea of a game being harmful, but not in the way of say ben drowned or something, but its harmful to the people making it because they want to make it perfect. remember all, stuff you make doesnt have to be perfect- it just has to be done. i often say "fuck it we ball" because 1. it encapsulates this truth and 2. its very funny.
I wanna make basilisk snes fanart so bad the torn knight is my babygirl
