waking up from my lil nap to talk about an idea that is coming from bat blazer hell. Listen, occult-gothic batman/Constantine AU where the genre is occult-noir, walk with me.

Batman post-year one, the rise of criminals that were not the mob or low level thugs are start to uptick and we are seeing a rise in occult-like cases across the city that batman is having a hard time trying to track. He's got the detective stuff down nd he can anticipate the steps, but he can't figure out the reason, a bunch of deaths keep popping up that no one can explain, and while there's a human element to it, there's more that's under the surface.

Enter John Constantine, the newest GCPD (who totally has legit transfer papers and is totally a legal detective/s/lh) transfer to help handle the new string of occult cases that are popping up in Gotham. John's adjusting to the place but notes how the myth of this "batman" keeps coming up in relation to these cases. He's always there and most of the GCPD skirts around his questions or just doesn't have answers for him. He asks Gordon who seems to know more but isn't letting him in on it.

Constantine suspects corruption through dark influences cuz I mean the GCPD is already corrupt as hell, it's not beyond him to suspect one of those forces might be of demonic influence. John follows behind Gordon, magically cloaked, when he goes to meet Batman.

He watches as this bat slinks out of the shadows, actually moving unlike how you'd see a human moves, and he overhears the discussion. Possible theories? A good cop in the GCPD who made a deal with a demon to solve their problems but is unaware of the side effects? Makes sense.

It isn't until Gordon leaves that he sees the bat look directly at him which takes him off-guard, but the batarang that nearly takes his hand is what really kicks him to start running. He bolts before realizing that he's been trapped cuz those batarangs weren't just fancy bat shaped ninja stars, they have magic inscribed in them that's keeping him from running.

The bat goes in for a one-on-one match, Bruce is expecting a petty thug but is actually surprised to see a guy hurl a fireball at him, gets taken off-guard when the fireball is actually affecting the wards lined in his cloak. He can see that this dude is magical. Constantine doesn't fight at Bruce's level but he also doesn't fight clean. They come to a stalemate as one of Bruce's gadgets locks Constantine's hands to a wall and the hell-blazer uses magic with his free-hand to bind the bat partially.

They both confront each other what they're after and they realize that they're trying to solve the occult shit that's happening in Gotham recently. They both free each other and they clarify situations to each other. Bruce needs to assess this English hobo that he can't get a read on, and Constantine is trying to piece together what the fuck a guy with a bat suit lined with magical wards is doing in Gotham and who sent him.

They're in for a long night.

Constantine would think Bruce is some stuck up rich prick while Bruce just tries to stay away from Constantine cause he drinks and smokes too much but like they start having these really weird heart to heart moments??? Constantine will sometimes flirt with Bruce but ofc Bruce just kinda pushes him off but they both get drunk and oops how did we end up in one bed together, completely naked! And thats the story how batblazer (constanbat? batstantine? whatever) becomes canon
