If you'd like to take this gent home consider supporting me on patreon
One of FIVE characters I've slowly been working on as part of a bigger group DnD commission for a coworker! This little guy is a batfolk sorcerer from the underdark, who wears strings of glowing crystals around his cloak that help him control his wild magic!
Harpy Solar and Batfolk Jack doodles
these are crappy af but here you go
Nothing like a new DND character that is a combination of my two favorite races to jumpstart my want to draw!
This is my draco-bat, a batfolk halfdragon. He's not named yet and clearly not done yet, but I'm too excited to not share because I love him already.
At this point, I'm just going to do single chapters and post the full fic once it's done. It'll also be cross-posted on Ao3 at some point. Criticism is welcomed as this is my first real fanfic :D
Trigger Warnings: A little bit of violence. Nothing above the typical canon, though

The Failed Assassination of Beatrix Sakamaki- Chapter 1
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
It's a beautiful day at the Sakamaki Manor. The sky was cloudy enough that the sun shone through like heaven’s rays down onto the earth below. Following the rays shine, would lead us down upon two immortal souls in the middle of a field, as far as can be from anyone or anything. One, an ethereal, sophisticated beauty in her own right, with hair as yellow as fresh wheat, with the deepest of blue eyes that felt as if you were staring right into the ocean herself. The other soul, a strong, rugged lass, whose short, ash brown hair rustled in the wind, as she adjusted her wings around her companion, craving even the slightest contact.
“Are ye sure you want to do this, bonnie?… Yer gonna give it all up, to live…with me?” murmured the brunette as she looked down, brushing the hair aside to meet her darling’s dark blue eyes, which looked as if they were twinkling again, just as they were when the two of them were mere young girls, far before the lines of fate tore them apart. The blonde sighs, as she puts on a small, unsure smile, taking her partner’s partially clawed hand into hers, and resting it on top of her chest, trying to sound sure of herself, but her voice wavered, “Yes, Adeline, I’m sure of it.” She looks in the direction she came from, with a proud yet saddened look. “The three of them want me gone…Karlhienz doesn’t care…” Beatrix takes a deep breath as she faces Adeline once again, “…and if that's what they wish…that is what they will receive.” Adeline nodded solemnly as she pressed a soft and gentle kiss upon the blonde locks.
A few moments of silence pass by. The two of them remained wrapped in a combination of arms and wings, breathing in each other’s scents, until Adeline spoke up timidly, “…You’re sure that they won’t find out?” The blonde nods with a small sigh, still unsure, but putting her hand in faith that this’ll go smoothly. “As certain as I can be…You found a remarkable craftsman.” Quick smiles were exchanged between the two of them as they fell into a comfortable yet tense, anticipatory silence. Blue eyes bore into green, both full of words, yet no way to say them as the wind blew around them, and the clouds passed by, only interrupted by passing whispers.
“We’ll fly high as one, mo ghràdh, whether it’d be today or hereafter.”
With a final goodbye, the two set up a scene of Beatrix walking throughout the garden of the manor. It's unnaturally quiet compared to the usual quiet ambiance; it even seems as if the pond itself has stilled. The only sound was the clicking of Beatrix’s heels and Adeline’s boots against the stone path. The roses were in full and bright bloom, practically glowing red amongst the dark green hedges. Such a beautiful scene. Adeline was just about to make her get away from the scene, when–
BANG, BANG
The deafening shots rang out, echoing into the air, shocking even the grass itself. Beatrix falls to the ground with a dense thump, as planned, but Adeline ended up being shot as well. She lets out a muffled squeak; however, she is ever so determined to fulfill the plan and makes her escape into the trees, limping. Another rustle comes from the trees, and several pounding footsteps make their owner’s getaway from the scene as all goes quiet once again. Beatrix is unaware that Adeline had been shot.
A bit later, Reiji would come to see if the job was truly done, finding his mother, bleeding out on the courtyard grounds, as put together as she could be in the moment, but… she was smiling. A genuine smile. A rare look for the second wife herself. She lets out a small sigh of relief as she turns her head slightly to look at her secondborn. No words are exchanged for what feels like an eternity as the mother and son simply observe one another. Beatrix had a sincere, proud look in her expression, and Reiji, a semi-hard, yet uncertain glare. Feeling herself fade into unconsciousness, she breathes in raspingly and gives Reiji her final words.
"I have finally… witnessed your abilities with my own eyes. I always held on to the hope… that the one to kill me… would be you."
With that, Beatrix shuts her eyes for what seems to be the last time, a soft smile on her face, proud of her son for becoming an adult, and anticipating the future if the rest of the plan goes correctly, as she leaves her second-born alone in the courtyard. He remains unaware of what's to come of his mother. Still, he is instead filled with immense disappointment and rage that she didn’t even show the slightest hint of suffering, dying peacefully instead of paying for her crimes of favoritism and neglect.
Reiji would later get the report of the assassination, which highly confused him, as the assassin reported another figure that was shot alongside Beatrix, reported to be an unknown man. He would look into this, but would find no other information, as all the servants and guards were accounted for, alive and well.
