☾🐾☽ He learned about Hawk Moth’s latest Akuma far too late, and only after Ladybug got arrested and imprisoned. Fortunately for him, he wasn’t transformed at the time so he was in the clear. He was about to break her out of prison himself, however, someone beat him to the punch. It was hard not to transform immediately and chase after her, but he had to trust her that she had a reason for not trying to call him. He assumed it was to keep his Miraculous safe or part of her master plan. He waited patiently for a signal, expecting that she would only take a few days max.
☾🐾☽ No one suspected that Adrien Agreste was the (once) famous Chat Noir which made his life that much easier. The only reassurance that Plagg was able to give him was that Hawk Moth could not create another Akuma. It wasn’t because he couldn’t it was because if he did the spell blanketing Paris would break and Hawk Moth would once again be seen as the enemy. So the last two years were quiet, as Adrien assumed that Hawk Moth was doing the same thing he was.
☾🐾☽ Adrien wanted to dedicate every moment he had to look for her, yet he had to keep his innocent act up. The minute people started getting suspicious, the minute that Hawk Moth won. It was a constant struggle of self-restraint as he worked through his day, acting like he didn’t care about Ladybug anymore and it hurt. It hurt him to have to lie about his feelings about her, it hurt him to say cruel things about it. It was all for an act and it was tearing him apart piece by piece. He didn’t know how he stumbled upon her once again, maybe this was the sign he was looking for or it was his bad luck finally giving away to her good luck. Regardless of how he found her, the fact still remains... he finally found her. Where she was hiding was in the last place he expected to find her. He couldn’t find himself able to blame her for hiding in such a... dangerous spot, then again anywhere was considered dangerous.
☾🐾☽ The night he had all of the information he needed and able to get to the location he was told. He called upon his transformation for the first time in two years and took to the shadows of the streets. He didn’t go soft in his two-year break, he trained in secret focusing on moving around without being detected and new fighting moves. His tail was swishing back and forth anxiously as he stalked the alleyway his lead sent him down.
