“Let go!” Remus yelled, yanking his arm in an attempt to break free from Janus’ hold.
“Quit struggling,” Janus said, tightening his grip.
“No!” Remus said as Janus dragged him along. “Let go of me or else.”
Janus almost laughed. “Or what?”
“Or...” The door came into view. Behind it, the most torturous room in the entire mind palace. “Please, no, please, I’ll do anything, anything at all, just don’t send me back there.”
“Remus,” Janus sighed.
“I’m serious, I’ll do whatever you want, please, let me go.” Remus fought Janus’ grip, but the deceitful side was too strong.
Janus opened the door and dragged Remus, kicking and screaming, inside, shutting the door so he couldn’t escape.
“You reek,” Janus said.
“It’s not that bad,” Remus said, eyeing the bath tub cautiously. “You get use to it.”
Janus crossed his arms.
“Will you at least bathe me,” Remus asked.
Janus picked up a washcloth from the linen closet next to him. He tossed it at Remus, hitting him in the face and walked out of the room, locking the door from the outside. Remus ran over to the door and started banging on it.
“Let me out,” Remus begged.
“Not until you wash yourself,” Janus said. “Every part of yourself.”
“I won’t,” Remus said.
“Well you’ll be in there a very all time then.”
“And you’ll be out there waiting a very long time.”
“Trust me,” Janus said as he pulled out a wine glass and bottle, pouring himself a glass. “I’m well aware.”
Janus pulled out a book and started reading it as he took a sip of wine.
“Deceit,” Remus said, his knocking turning halfhearted.
“Take as much time as you need,” Janus said.
Janus knew the boredom would kill Remus before it bothered him. He was willing to wait.
