Okay, no, da fuck is this?
For that matter, I have one more question: how is it that Thomas fights SO good? In the Flashpoint comic, there was a frame in which Cyborg says that they need Batman, in part, because of the reputation Thomas has built for himself over the DECADES that he was Batman. Well, yes, Bruce was 8 when he was killed — it's been a long time since Martha became the Joker and he became the Batman. In many versions, Thomas fought with Alfred — he is a soldier, undoubtedly, he knows how to fight and knows what war is... But is that enough to be the BATMAN?
Yes, even if many decades have passed, there is no mention of the fact that Thomas wandered around the world in search of an answer to how to live on and of a necessary knowledge how he can fight with criminals. For God's sake, out of all the different universes I can just think of a thousand stories that Bruce got into and what he learned from there.
I mean? What is, well, the first thing that comes to mind? Ra's Al Ghul, the monks, the half-wizards, The Shadow, Mr. Miracle, all sorts of bastards and thieves, Arabs, deserts, Irish, Irish criminals, a fucking old lady in the mountains who tied him to a kite and threw him the fuck down from the mountain, as a result of which he ran into an identical idiot and saved his life. This young shithead was extremely not happy, because "HE INSULTED HIM". And then another old man, from a nearby mountain that is slightly higher, suggested that he can go to his cave and then he will show Bruce a couple of nuances with the darkest, fuck me, of all magic, so he could become invincible! He also suggested that Bruce can get rid of the previous student — but, as a result, they got rid of this dude, well, the mountain itself did it, falling on his bald head (yes, it really happened, that's what I mean by "fucked up from Bruce's past").
And we are not even taking into account the fact that Bruce, you know, on Monday fights with standard/strong/weak/super-strong / just nuts psychopaths, on Tuesday meets with paranormal devilry, on Wednesday with robots, on Thursday with aliens, on Friday he flies into space, on Saturday he is carried into another universe and on Sunday there is a collapse of the multiverse, or, even worse — all his children gather together in one place. And so it goes, week after week, in different order.
And what about Thomas? He bailed literally from the first and last cataclysm in their universe — though, he'd been brought back, of course, just to be killed again, to be brought back again, to be killed by Bane in the end. But we didn't count that, okay?
I don't argue, he's good enough. But there's a line separating a person who's just "very good" from "BATMAN," and I doubt Thomas could physically cross it. Bruce had given his whole life to it and Thomas was already pretty old. He could have hired some good coaches, even if it was Deathstroke, but that wouldn't make him Batman — again, I didn't see any mention of him hanging out all over the world for twenty years. There are a lot of guys who are proficient in almost all known types of martial arts, which, combined with increased speed, endurance, reaction, regeneration and foresight of the future, gives almost one hundred percent guarantee of victory in hand-to-hand combat, however, when it comes to this Big-eared Devil, all common sense immediately disappears from the equation — and this is amazing. By the way, that's why I want to see more stories tied to the "battle of the minds" thing, because, let's be honest, to push clowns, wrestlers and lawyers, even if they are skilled, with a man who in some comics beat off BULLETS with his hand... Well, it's somehow unsportsmanlike. Plus, he is a detective, right?.
Therefore, I completely do not understand WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?! That is fucked up, can you understand — ¿did you SEE IT at all, what's going on there? He can mess with Bane, though he used a gun, he beat up Bruce and SINGLE-HANDEDLY beat the shit out of the BAT-FAMILY, including CASSANDRA CAIN! What was that?! I mean, yes, Bruce was exhausted and emotionally depressed, but he came back and then carried Thomas out alone... but his WHOLE family? Couldn't do anything with a pensioner who's been having troubles with his head for the last twenty years? This is very strange stuff.
