Results of BFZ prerelease

Played the 10am prerelease for Battle for Zendikar at Adventurer’s Guld in Edmonton today. Skipped the midnight prerelease for various reasons, the main one being I simply can not function that late at night/early in the morning. Sealed pool: Promo card is Akoum Hellkite, packs are very heavy on white/black, with stuff like a foil Planar Outburst, Hero of Goma Fada, and March to the Tomb. A large amount of the deck consists of some allies like Kor Entanglers and Makindi Patrol for white, while the creature count is shored up with some black and colorless Eldrazi. In retrospect, I should have went all-in with Eldrazi and gone for black-red since I had a dual land to support it in my pool, but my white pool was simply too promising to ignore. My final ranking ends as 2-3. Many of the matches I play wind up decided by Bane of Bala Ged, either played by me or my opponent. Annihilator 2: Annihilate Harder is simply way too powerful in this format. Other huge game-deciders include Breaker of Armies, Kiora and her +1 untap effect, and a deck with three Nettle Drones in it. Had a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to the full set release because this’ll be an exciting draft format.

They're really making the most of being able to use footage of the previous two films to set the scene. It must have saved them a bob or two in production.

Hey, Orang-utan, you can't prove that with logic as it is seriously flawed.

As with all of these films it really triggers my tribal reflexes and instincts. It takes some thinking round, to ensure all thoughts are backed up and not just jumped to conclusions.

For a fifth film in a series it's found an interesting angle and area of the story to approach.
