The rebellion is over! Ulfric Stormcloak is dead! His head will be sent to Cyrodiil where it will adorn the walls of the Imperial City! Let this day be a final warning to those who still call themselves Stormcloaks! We are turning the city over to Brunwulf Free-Winter, an honorable and faithful man! Many of you will be staying in Windhelm to aid the Jarl in restoring order and stamping out any embers of rebellion that may still smolder here! things that make the battle for windhelm amusing but also a mess:

the invading force consisting of about ten soldiers at any given time. it’s less of a battle, more of a football match with added death

thaena, the deposed wife of jarl korir, just standing outside as the battle rages around her. occasionally stopping at a corpse and saying ‘i’m going to find out who did this’

the entirety of the city being on fire, with the exception of anything remotely important

ulfric sitting on his throne and waiting for the invading forces to enter, like he hasn’t noticed the city falling down around him

general tullius just leaving after the finale and walking home alone. ‘aight imma head out’

tullius claiming ulfric and galmar’s heads will be sent to cyrodiil, but actually just leaving them to moulder on the floor

I called Hakon One-Eye to help me with the battle for Windhelm. During the fight in the city I realized it was actually kinda cruel of me to make him kill Stormcloaks, his fellow Nord. Whoops. Sorry about that, my friend.

But then on the other hand he seemed to get along really well with Legate Rikke, a Nord herself. So maybe it was not that bad...?
