Éowyn and the Witch-king of Angmar by Alan Lee
Captain Kathryn Janeway as a Brilliant Tactician, part 1, 2, 3 (version 1) (version 2)
Star Trek Voyager, 7x10 -Flesh and Blood II (version 2)
Hirogen ships wildly outclassed Voyager and the first time Voyager seriously went up against the Hirogen, the crew lost control of the ship and they were forced to participate in various Hirogen hunting games.
The crew barely took back Voyager and Janeway had to give Hirogen the Hologram tech to get them off her ship.
And then in season 7, after the EMH Doctor betrayed Voyager and thoroughly sabotaged the ship. The Engine room was a mess and the only reason Voyager didn't explode is because B'Elanna reinforced the Warp core. And then the holograms kidnap B'Elanna.
Voyager, battered and limping was on a mission to retrieve their two lost crew members. So Janeway decided to use the Hirogen's hunting skill for their benefit and had the best tactic to deal with the Hirogen while Voyager was in no condition for a firefight.
And despite limping all the way while tailing the Hirogen ships, Voyager fought against two Hirogen ships and won.
Luke Skywalker Wingfic Part 1

BEHOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDD
Title: Before You Can Fly
Summary:
Not every Human is 100% human. Some appear to be, then around 18-19 they start growing wings - an intensive, year-long process that's incapacitating. It's just Luke's luck that he starts to do so right after the Battle of Yavin. And Darth Vader is searching for the Death Star pilot…
Excerpt:
Ben Kenobi had looked at Luke so sadly. Maybe he had known. The old bastard.
Luke knew, growing up, that chances of him developing wings were high. The winged weren’t very common on Tatooine, as most couldn’t afford the resources to help them survive the year-long transformation, but his father had been one of them. Anakin Skywalker had had the good fortune to hit adulthood off-planet, somewhere where he could ride out the feverish, weak, painful year with plenty of water, food, and rest. Luke’s own begging to leave Tatooine had been about becoming a pilot, true, but in the dead of night, he could admit to himself that it was also fear of the transformation, fear of sending his family into poverty to care for him, fear of dying before it was complete. Owen and Beru had had a stash of food, water, and credits that they thought was hidden from him, just in case, but he knew that they couldn’t afford to save up enough, not with Jabba’s water taxes rising each season.
At nineteen, he was the perfect age for it.

Summary: Team Legion Incorporated (made up of me Leon Turner , Elizabeth Henstridge and Brett Dalton) battle, defeat and humble the legendary (still active members) Bakugan Battle Brawlers and make them work harder than ever to get back to prominence.
Author Note: Just a note, this is my first ever piece of fan fiction I have ever written period let alone on AO3 so please be patient and kind with/to me. It is a slightly AU Post-Canon story that I have often dreamed about both when I am asleep or awake of me and the two celebrities I really wanna meet battling the Bakugan Battle Brawlers in a multitude of different ways and formats. So yeah, this is a passion project of mine. This is now part one of a 3? part series and I'm excited. Also a note, anything in italics is a flashback scene in case you get confused.

⚔️ Confrontations: Letters, Lies, and a Much-Needed Fight
We start strong with a father-son duel again! Tensions have clearly reached a breaking point. Then Misaki receives a second letter, revealing that Takeru has been hiding them from her. And the biggest twist? Robin is alive. So my previous theory was wrong.
This escalation leads to the long-awaited confrontation between Misaki and Takeru. I said in my last log that I was trying to see if there was anything redeemable in this man… and honestly? I want it to be but at this point I was angry and frustrated. So when Misaki attacked him with full intent to kill, I was 100% cheering her on 😌 It was satisfying to see her take control and succeed.
I also appreciated that, in the middle of their conflict, Misaki made it clear that she didn’t want Mamoru to choose sides. Her son is right: she’s far less selfish than she believes. But their fight is cut short by an even bigger threat : the attack begins.
💥 War Hits Home: Violence, Loss, and Reality
Setsuko's family is killed. She collapses in grief as her husband Takachi holds her. Their love was quiet but moving and in that moment, I was rooting for them.
This entire sequence made one thing clear: this is a nation raised on tales of war and glory, but they've never faced real war. Not with real loss. Their legends are clean, heroic, myth-like. But war is brutal, messy, and irreversible. The deaths of Setsuko’s family, of the students, and of the swordsmiths shatter that illusion. Yukino’s pain, watching his students die, was quietly devastating. Later, when Mamoru freezes on the battlefield, overwhelmed by the blood and death, it all rings tragically true.
And then there's this chilling moment: the Yammanese wind warriors face off against them. Human, not monsters. And Mamoru is stunned. They've spent so long dehumanizing the enemy that he didn't expect to meet people who look just like him.
❄️ Ice Dragons, Blood, and Blades
The action scenes? Absolutely stunning. I’m very picky with battle writing. I get bored fast if it’s unclear or too drawn out. But Wang excels at this. It’s visual, breathless, immersive. Even the characters I don’t like (hi Takeru) get compelling, badass fight scenes. The wind powers of the Ranganese are impressive, but when the Matsuda brothers summon an ice dragon? I lost it.
A few moments that stood out: – Female warriors among the enemy, strong and deadly, surprising both Mamoru and Yukino – Yukino’s death, protecting his last student, was deeply moving even if I didn’t cry – Takeru comforting Mamoru after Yukino’s death genuinely surprised me. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a path forward for them as a family.
As much as I dislike Takeru as a man, I love him as a fighter. He has charisma and power, and I’m intrigued to see how he’ll react as his worldview collapses (which is bound to happen, please T.T). Takachi, on the other hand, annoyed me a bit with his thrill-seeking attitude. I did like his emotional moments (especially with his wife and daughter) and his regret over not getting to know Misaki better hit hard. I didn’t cry when he died, but I am sad we won’t get to see more of him.
🩸 Motherhood, Memory, and That Blade Moment
Misaki continues to be everything. She tries to warn Mamoru before battle and her advice helps him survive. She also warns Takeru, who dismisses her publicly, only to secretly use her strategy to win against the storm attack (of course 🙄).
Then finally, finally, Misaki draws her sword. And it’s EPIC. When she says it's easier holding her sword than a child? That line alone deserves a shrine. Absolute legend.
⚔️ Theory on what's coming next
I don’t ship Takeru and Misaki for now, but I do want to see them come together as warriors and parents. Not out of forgiveness, but out of shared purpose. The text even hints at this during the attack : in the face of survival, their differences fade and they fight to protect their family. Will that alliance hold once the storm passes? No idea. But I’m invested.
And one last thing: The goodbye between Chul-Hee and Mamoru was so soft. Their friendship (and maybe more 👀) continues to be one of my favorite parts of this book.
