Amazing Commitment! Yesterday most at the Ulloa Church worked hauling building materials and digging footings. Today the children added to their fund for cinder blocks. They have accepted the challenge that each one will buy one. Where Once There Were Ashes. The work of an arsonist left the Ulloa Church a heap of ashes on December 7. The ashes are gone; a wood slat structure was constructed by Honduran brothers for the children’s classes; and worship was conducted today where the house of Lucy and Rigoberto López once stood. As more and more Christians respond to this tragedy, plans are being made to rebuild both the house and the church building. Mile 10.4 - The Adventure Begins Reflecting Back. First stop is the Hendersonville, NC Church. Just 5 weeks ago this church's mission brigade came, served, worked, and loved on Baxter students, on Hondurans and especially on the new church plant at Ulloa. As we worshipped today in an air conditioned building, it was hard not to remember the sights and sounds of that recent visit. A Piñata in Bible Class!? It's Children's Day and school parades blocked roads and meant we arrived 30 minutes late, but so did everyone else. The Honduran culture like most Latin American cultures pamper and favor their children. And after Bible class two piñatas were strung up and it was game on for the kids. The Ulloa Church are so very thankful for the work that the Northwest Tampa Church and most recently the Hendersonville Church did on their building.
