Halsey, MAX, Lauv and MANY MORE spoke up about the issue!
PSA: If you have to say “I’m not racist,” before or after you say something racist, then you’re not convincing anyone.
Listen you can say you hate someone's music, if you so choose you can even call them names or whatever but to call an asian band a "virus" or even compare them to SARS specifically, in the year 2021 after it was used as hatespeech against so many people of asian decent and then double down on it by wishing them a "vacation" in Northkorea for 20 years. But it's all good because you can't be xenophobic because you drive a korean car?!
Listen Boomer I'd even let the SARS comment slide because I guess you got stuck in 1980 where calling a boyband a virus was still just all fun and games and you probably haven't gotten the memo about the current situation yet because you're a white german dude that doesn't get comments like that thrown their way, but I think im not wrong in expecting that you know about tensions between South and North Korea as it has been common knowledge for like 70 years now...
Oh wait you definitely know about that because for your "joke" to land you have to rely on that cultural knowledge... Oh but tell me again how we are "misrepresenting your words" and how you "didn't mean it that way"
Wer ist hier der kleine Pisser?
more often than not the «criticisms» people have for bts is just racism/xenophobia. racism is not an opinion.
Matthias Matuschik, a host on the German station Bayern 3, made the comments regarding a recent BTS cover of the Coldplay song Fix You. In a statement published on its website, Bayern 3 said Matuschik “simply meant to express his displeasure of the cover of the above-mentioned song.” The statement added: “In this instance, in an attempt to express his opinion with ironic exaggeration and with feigned over-the-top irritation, he misjudged his choice of words and thus hurt the feelings of the BTS fans.” BTS fans are calling Matuschik's comments racist and anti-Asian.
OKAY, LEMME TELL YOU WHY THIS IS BULLSHIT ON HIS BEHALF AND THE PEOPLE DEFENDING HIM.
He “didn’t just hurt BTS fans widdle feelwings”. It was the fact that he stated that BTS was short for COVID19 and “he hopes there will be a vaccine against BTS soon“. In addition he openly cursed at them and went on to spew more racist statements/remarks about Asians. Even joked about sentencing them to a trip to prison in North Korea.
THAT’S what pissed everyone off. Its the hatred, racism and bigotry in his tone/words.
This isn't JUST because its BTS.
And its funny how he called their cover of “Fix You” a blasphemy and crime to the original song & artist, when Coldplay themselves did this:
Steve Aoki and Zara Larsson have also spoken up against Bayern3's comments.
I'll add Halsey, MAX & Lauv's as well from the previous post.
As others have said, this isn't a "just because its BTS" issue. Racism as a whole should NOT be tolerated on any level. And these anti-Asian jokes and propaganda need to STOP. These jokes about the pandemic/Covid NEED-TO-STOP.
It's 2021 ffs!
Here are some articles that cover the current situation pretty good. Please educate yourself, spread it and raise awareness. This is not just about BTS, but the racism Asians have to face on a daily basis, especially since the pandemic.

Racism BTS Continues to Face Is Part of Larger Anti-Asian Xenophobia
THANK YOU Teen Vogue for helping cover this issue and give a platform to Asian voices! We must continue to fight hate! No matter where it is!
However, this is particularly terrifying considering Germany’s history!
