AI, MRF’s and Bayesian Networks
So I was looking into this stuff today, and I was (to cut a long story short) really amazed that the shiz that they impart into AI can actually be seen oozing out the other end.
Like, without going into the endless depths of the rabbit hole, they use these things to create the algorithms that power up stuff like the computer programs that we photographers use every day to edit our photos.
But when you look at stuff like Markov Random Field theory, you realise that while the program is doing it’s shit on you as you work, so are you doing your shit on it. I suppose it’s “interaction”:
Ignore the equations, read the text. This very accurately describes the vibe you get as a photo editor, when you develop an intuitive feel for how one slider affects another, and actually goes deeper into the exposure triangle, and things like sharpening vs noise.....
This quote kinda says it all: “This suggests that knowledge about actions and consequences is stored in a form resembling Causal Bayesian Networks”.. It means - Inside. Your. Brain.
