BBC Dynasties Series 2 Episode 1. Puma

Till today BBC Dynasties is my favorite nature documentary series. Not only because of the amazing storytelling but also because how they handle the whole: „as a nature photographer you are not allowed to interfere with the nature“

Actual footage: „all the penguins fall in a hole and where stucked down there. One mother even had to leave behind her baby to get out of the hole again“

BTS: „so after one day they were still stucked down there and dying a slow painful death, it was just cruel and pointless. So we got out our shovels and digged them a way out of there. Mostly all of them survived“

Actual footage 2: „and all lions where dying because of poisonous meat the farmers lay out“

BTS: „if the farmers can interfere with nature by killing the lions with poison, we can interfere by calling a vet“

I also finished watching BBC's Dynasties, and it was really great. It's too bad it was only 5 episodes though because as much as I love Planet Earth 1 and 2, Our Planet, etc, I've always been really fond of documentaries that follow the story of one specific animal or group of animals. It's so cool getting to know them and care for them and see their lives unfold, even if it ends in tragedy sometimes. I also loved the On Location segments, that sort of behind the scenes stuff is always fascinating.

the third episode of bbc dynasties is somehow the best piece of feminist drama i’ve ever seen

Interesting… when you try to find something about the hyena pups in Dynasty 2, you find not a single article but 100 about the Lion

I mean, go Charm, but it would be really interesting to know if Sumas son survived his injuries. I guess not? But it shows that they audience interested in hyena is still low… really really low

Idk but one thing I do not like about the second season of dynasties is how positive optimistic it is?! The first season was: „and now he can continue his dynasty (David) And now she has a new try for a dynasty (Charm) and her dynasty is over (the African wild dogs) and now the dynasty starts all over again (the penguins).“

And kn season 2 it is always „and now she has founded a new dynasty. Yay!“ and it especially bugged me during the meerkat episode where there was no proof her new babies would make it to adulthood after her first six babies died. And it also bugged me during the Cheetah episode where it was claimed: „after 14 babies who died, and only two who reached adulthood, she now founded a dynasty with her three daughters“ which was like??? We only saw one daughter again, the other two were never mentioned again, her youngest daughter died and no one knows if he oldest son makes it to adulthood

Idk Season 1 was realistic with its expectations, maybe people told them season 1 was too depressing, maybe that’s why they are now so positive and optimistic, idk… I don’t like it

The cinematography of BBC Dynasties never disappointes
