hitting my daily writing goal with a short ficlet about aki (let's hope I make this fluffy 𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯)
Aki's rage has always been loud. He knew it showed in his rigid body and flaring nostrils. His fists always clenched like he was grasping at the last of his wavering composure. You hated hearing it in his voice the most.
You can practically hear the string of curse words that he'd release on you.
"Shit," you imitate between heavy breaths. The Spider Devil Fiend was across the hall, too busy with its own problems to pay you any mind.
It was supposed to be a routine job. A distress call requesting backup led you and the Spider Devil Fiend to an abandoned house in the secluded corner of the city. When you arrived at the house, the sun was still hanging in the sky.
You had made dinner plans for after the assignment. That was incredibly stupid to do. You should have known better.
Now, it's been hours since you've stepped inside, with no exit in sight. At least, through the windows, you could see the evening sky. That offered you a little comfort.
The sound of soft dripping made you shiver all over. Your hand, sticky and warm with blood, pressed with as much strength as you could muster against the open wound in your side.
It was too late for you to call backup, but you were wishfully confident the fiend could wait out until the next rescue team arrived. Maybe if you called for backup a little earlier, you wouldn't be in this situation.
Or maybe that would have made it worse. It would've given Aki a front row seat.
Aki.
A few moments ago, the thought of his anger scared you, but now—
Now, you wish for nothing more than to hear his voice. He could yell at you, or cry over you, and you would be grateful just for those last few moments.
How incredibly selfish.
"Don't be too angry with me…Aki," you whisper in an empty hall. "I'm glad you didn't get to see me like this."
