After the announcement about Nik and his punishment had been made by the mayor, Evie found herself wandering a bit aimlessly, Mason in her arms, as she searched for something in the festival to subdue the growing feeling of unease in her stomach. She knew Nik was getting what he deserved after all of the horrible things he’d done, not only to her, but to the entire supernatural community. To so many innocent people. But still, part of her yearned for the man she knew, the one who saved her from her life of monotony and abuse, the man who took her around the world and allowed her to experience so many wonderful things.
