(“Every good rhyme starts with once upon a time!”) “Maybe we could send Frisk, she’s not exactly human, so the rhyme isn’t targeted at her,” Reyna said with an eyeroll and deadpan tone. The conversation trailed off, Sora yelling something, but Frisk was distracted. They were curious about the validity of the nursery rhyme, and if it was the same mountain Sora mentioned moving around all the time. Maybe they should go check it out. Tomorrow, after whatever birthday celebration Sora had talked her parents into throwing for Frisk later today. -- A discussion of some ancient history leads to curiosity, and that curiosity leads to something nobody could have predicted

“Oh. It was just you.” Frisk’s musings were interrupted by her brother. Frisk opened their eyes, and looked over to see the goat monster in a t-shirt and shorts. Begrudgingly, Frisk sat up. “Didn’t mean to wake you.” “Trust me, you didn’t. I was… already up.” - Frisk and Asriel meet on the roof one night when they can't sleep. They wind up bonding.

Asriel wanted to believe it too. But he was lying. He knew he was. - Asriel has been trying to cope with what he did as Flowey. The descent from someone in a new form trying to retain a sense of normal to playing god… it doesn’t happen without consequences. These are some peeks into that coping.

Something happened. Something big, beyond the breaking of the barrier and freedom of monsters, which was big enough. But it was specific to Frisk, with maybe only Sans and Chara knowing what the event was. Whatever it was, Reyna had the horrific worry that it might have broken Frisk. She had to find out for sure, so she could help put Frisk back together again. - It was then that she realized that lunch had been unusually quiet. Sure, Reyna was a naturally quiet person, but normally Frisk would have tried to say something or knock Sora out of her own musings by now. But there were no questions or chattering to fill the empty air between them. Worse - their smile was empty. It didn’t reach her eyes. “Frisk, are you okay?” Sora asked, genuinely asked. - Reyna and Sora aren't blind. Frisk's their best friend, they can tell that whatever happened underground changed them. And yet, despite the darkness and guilt in her eyes, it seems to be for the better.
