feeling hot lips against yours and somehow they are not hot in the typical way you expected.
no, he's warm, not hot.
he's warm the same way chocolate is when you melt it, stirring it in a bowl and letting it melt into your tongue, tasting it like it may be the last thing you ever do.
he tastes like spice, a burn against the cracks of your lips. he tastes like tea, caffeinated but controlled. he tastes like summer, a breeze against your skin and a coolness over your face. he tastes like rolled wafers (chocolate and hazelnut), something he'd been convincing you to buy for him whenever you shop.
his hands are on your waist, pulling you close so he'll never be separated from you again. your hands are in his hair, running fingers through long strands.
I love your Natsume fics! If you are still taking requests could you do something with some sort of father/son bonding between Shigeru and Natsume?
x
Takashi doesn’t know Shigeru is home early when he comes in –which is probably the only reason he slams the door closed behind himhard enough that the panes rattle, and kicks off his shoes with moreforce than necessary.
Shigeru blinks, and sets his book aside as the boy stormsaround the corner like a small hurricane.
“ – can’t believe him,how many times do I have to say it?”he’s muttering fiercely to the fat cat trotting by his ankles.“Sometimes he makes me want to just – oh.”
Shigeru very barely manages tobite back a smile at the way Takashi stops dead in the doorway of thekitchen. Nyangoro crosses the room at a saunter, hopping up to settleon the seat of Touko’s empty chair and tucking his paws incomfortably.
“Nyangoro has the right idea,”Shigeru says, nodding towards Takashi’s chair. “Come and sit. I’lllend a better ear than your cat probably will.”
There’s an obvious war going onin Takashi’s golden eyes, but teenage temper wins in the end. He shrugs off his school bag and sits with a thump, simmering with avery rarely shown irritation.
Intrigued despite himself,Shigeru watches as the usually mild-mannered Takashi strugglesvisibly with what he wants to say and what he thinks he shouldn’t.He’s frowning deeply, the closest he’s over come to scowling at hisfoster father and Shigeru shouldn’t be delighted by it, he knows heshouldn’t. Most parents probably don’t yearn to see their childrenthrow fits and act out, but he has long since accepted that he andTouko aren’t most parents.
“Friend troubles?” Shigeruoffers after a moment. Takashi flicks a quick look at him through hisfringe.
“Tanuma.”
“Ah,” Shigeru says mildly.Boy troubles, then.
“He’s – I’m – ” Takashidoes scowl now, down at his hands. “I know he’s my friend, and thathe means well, but he can be so infuriating.”
“That sounds about right.”Shigeru laughs at the look Takashi gives him. “You’re both sostubborn, I’m amazed you haven’t butted heads until now.”
“We have,” Takashi admits,“but – it usually doesn’t bother melike this. I don’t know what’s different this time.”
And Shigeru doesn’t know how toexplain to him what it is that’s changed. There aren’t words, or atleast none that he can find, to shape the difference in the Takashithey brought home for the first time – that soft-spoken andrespectful boy who was hardly more than a polite ghost gracing thequiet corners of their house, always doing his best to stay out oftheir way and keep his problems to himself – and the one stewingacross the table from him now, sure of his welcome even when he’s notat his best.
The change is night and day.Shigeru hides a smile behind the rim of his teacup, listening as hisson vents his frustration on the room.
“ – just wish he would listenwhen I tell him I don’t needhelp. I can take care of myself. And I know I shouldn’t be this way. He’s my friend, and I’m lucky to have him. But still – “
“Surely you know better than tothink friendship is without its faults,” Shigeru says, raising aneyebrow. “Atsushi and Satoru argue as much as any two people I’veever met, and I don’t doubt they’ve been good friends for most oftheir lives.”
Takashi blinks. “Well,” hesays, at length. Then, “That’s different.”
“It isn’t. Not in the least.”
It will bother him, if he lets it, that at sixteen years old, Takashiis still so new to maintaining these relationships with the people inhis life who care about him that a fight with a friend could leavehim so off-kilter.
Shigeru puts the thought on theshelf for the time being, to take down and reexamine later. For now,the ire is leaking slowly out of Takashi’s face, leaving only dawningsurprise behind, and Shigeru can’t help being warmly amused.
“I know that neither of you arethe type to squabble over something trivial,” he says. “You don’thave to agree on everything all the time. As a matter of fact, that’sprobably impossible, no matter how close you are. All you can do isrespect his opinion, and try to find a middle ground.”
Takashi is quiet for a long time, studying the table beneath his hands. It’s only when Nyangoro startsto purr that the tension bleeds out of his shoulders, and Takashisighs.
“You’re right,” he finallysays, looking worn out by the whole thing. “He’s still annoying,”Takashi adds quickly, making Shigeru need to hide another smile. “Buthe means well. He always means well.” The admission gentles him, warming the color in his face and adding softness to his eyes. “Ishould apologize to him.”
It’s as importantto be apologized to,Shigeru thinks, perhaps unfairly. Takashi is sorry for so manythings, and forgives endlessly – even when he has nothing to besorry for, even when there’s too much to forgive. Takashi’s friendsare good and kind, but they’re still just kids, and kids can behurtful and take advantage –
“Excuse me,” a familiar voicecalls at the door, “is anyone home?”
Takashi blinks wide eyes atShigeru from his side of the table. Shigeru returns the wide-eyedlook with one of his own, and they both smile.
Kaname is a tall, imposing figureas he steps into the room, but his dark eyes are kind, and his smilefor Takashi is impossibly gentle. There’s a stubborn spark in hisexpression that matches the one Shigeru’s son wears almost perfectly, softened by regret and fondness, and Shigeru picks up his book again peacefully as the boys talk quietly down the hall.
“If anyone in the world is goingto take advantage of Takashi,” he says to Nyangoro, comforted by the thought, “they’ll have to go throughKaname to do it.”
The cat snorts, and doesn’t bother opening its eyes. Some things are so obvious they go without saying, Shigeru decides, and smiles at the sound of warm laughter from the next room.
ngl i was just gonna have it where Sanguine's Rose was the only artifact Mei actually became a champion of (cus drunk antics) but I'm also really digging the idea of Mei kinda just vibing as a champ of Sheo
mostly due to her wanting to help someone out whilst staying in Solitude before traveling to Summerset & just getting roped into shenanigans yet again. Difference being she is like "huh this is kinda cool"
I really wanna like eden’s zero! I have higher hopes than fairy tail cause I guess, technically Mashima didn’t mean to continue it past a certain arc (forgot which one) and he just seemed bored of it. I hope he rises after that and actually gives quality content. But then again. That nakama bullshit and the fake deaths. UGH. I used to think he was a master of trolling but really just a master of disappointment... 😔
Anon said: I’m not against people criticizing Mashima’s work and not wanting to read edens zero. However, you can’t say that we aren’t allowed to think Edens Z///ero is good. People like what they like. Some of us are genuinely interested in the concept. Just because you are not a fan of Mashima’s writing doesn’t mean that other people aren’t allowed to think it’s good. It’s just an opinion.
Listen y’all
I’m gonna answer these two at once bcus frankly i don’t have the energy
first nonny:
i agree about the master of disappointment part lmao. But about the higher hopes part eeeeeeeeeeeeeh
there was a boob grab AND panty upshot in the first chapter. First. Chapter. That’s not a good sign that the manga’s gonna be great quality if he’s already relying on fanservice, fans loving the characters bcus of how similar -coughcoughexactsamecoughcougherza/elisecoughcough- the new ones are to the old ones, and zero actual worldbuilding in the first chapter. I mean I guess you could counter that he can only go up, but considering how FT ended i’mma gonna lean more towards the naw on that.
That all being said, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. I love Riverdale and objectively it’s a SUPER SHITTY show. Ask @rivendell101 who is currently obsessed with it, and who goes on hour long rants that I adore about how horrible it is. Just bcus something has good quality doesn't mean you have to enjoy it, and what you enjoy doesn’t have to be good quality.
This leads me to second anon.
Yes. It is an opinion. My opinion. On my blog. That was prompted for. Objectively, Eden’s Z///ero isn’t good. There was no explanation for the robot island, how Not-Natsu/Gray’s powers work, Not-Lucy’s goal is underdeveloped at best or meant to be thrown away immediately at worst, there’s good old soft sexual assault by loveable-but-dense-main-male-character-who-has-no-social-experience-so-let’s-forgive-him-for-obviously-crossing-a-boundry-that-mashima-the-human-writer-knows-exists-but-has-his-character-cross-anyway-and-humilate-his-female-lead, the main characters are a re-colour, Happy is the exact same, Not-Ezra is shaping up to be Erza, and oh look another mention of dragons that might be built up for 300 chapters, dealt with in two pages and then never touched again in depth. Okay, that last one is me still bitter about FT, but you get the point.
These are all in the debut chapter of his new manga. Not a couple arcs in where we see a pattern. No, all that lead up was in FT. Those are objective facts.
again. All of the above does not mean you cannot enjoy it.
Look past the faults and find the jewels that Mashima is capable of creating. The art aesthetic is gorgeous as always. The concept from what I understand has potential and seems interesting. You just want fluff to turn off your brain to and enjoy?? You do you and all the power to you bcus everyone needs something to just plain enjoy. But is it a well written piece of entertainment? No. It’s not.
And if that’s not something you want to hear then I absolutely do not blame you for unfollowing me. I have the tags blacklisted for the manga after all. and I tag it all as ‘anti edens zero’ and ‘anti ez’ for you to block those tags.
But this is my blog, and I’m too old and too done to care about censoring my opinions on my own damn blog.
Roxas gritted his teeth as he arrived on a new world that he’d never been to before. He bore the coat that he wore back when he was a part of the Organization, but he most certainly did not share their ambition any longer. His first impression of where he was?
...It’s hot. Maybe even hotter than Agrabah, not that he thought it possible. Still, he had the feeling that there was someone nearby in this desert wasteland.
“Who’s there?” He called out, not bothering to be stealthy...not that there was any way to hide out here.
