Beach wrack—it's for the birds! Strong waves rip up algae and sea grasses, which then wash up on the beach as "wrack." This smelly seaweed sunday draws migrating birds for a meal of kelp flies, and serves as a drift store for thrifty cormorants looking for home appliances.
