“Y’know when someone’s embarrassed, they go red?”
Questioned Maverick, half laying down on the counter, on his back, as Remi cleaned the coffee machine. “Well, she didn’t go red, but she was obviously really embarrassed. Would that mean she was blushing beforehand?”
“Are you seriously asking me for advice, Mav?”
Spoke Remi, his voice somewhat genuine when saying that. Maverick groaned, annoyed at Remi’s uselessness. “Well, maybe she doesn’t blush when embarrassed, or something. I dunno.” Shrugged Remi, trying to be a little helpful, even though he was lacking in the “love department” just as much as Maverick was.
“Maybe she wasn’t even embarrassed. Yeah, she’s a cop, totally serious.”
Remi glances at Maverick. He didn’t know much about love or whatever this was but he knew that Maverick was overthinking the interaction.
“Oh god, she’s probably complaining to all her cop buddies about how rude i was, calling her short stack straight up! But on the flip side it brings traction to the cafe, wait, no. No that’s bad traction!” Maverick groans, rubbing his hands over his face, for once Remi felt bad for him. DING! DING! Both of the boys were taken out of thought, as Arthur, their boss, walks in. His warm personality presented through his Santa-like beard. Arthur frowns. “What’s wrong kid, someone looks like they just told you we’re out of coffee?”
“He’s out of his mind, that’s what.”
Mumbles Remi, half annoyed half sympathetic. Arthur’s face screws up to a puzzled one, making Remi give an explanation on the situation. “Basically Mav here, had some girl come in and he’s unsure how she feels about him. If you ask me, i couldn’t care less but here we are.”
Arthur’s face softens before speaking. “Kid, this is my advice. Stop thinking and start doing. I don’t know exactly what happened but you’ve got to say something to her, whether it’s apologising, saying hi or even asking her out to lunch. Whatever is the most appropriate response, do it!”
There’s a moment of silence as Maverick thinks about the advice.
“How are you so… thoughtful?” He asks, essentially saying he’d probably follow through with the advice.
