So, little reminder
Most of the posts on this blog, are in character posts and from the perspective of my Drifter/Tenno. They are not going to be like, lore dissections or discussions, not unless the post is explicitly tagged as so. If you see a perspective or opinion you do not agree with, once more, you are disagreeing with a fictional character who does not have the omniscience of a player; therefore it should be expected they will be lacking meta information like any character/NPC in the setting. The perspective is going to be flawed at times, and the perspective is not always going to be aware of every little thing surrounding something. I am saying this, because, posts from the perspective of Calysta are not an invitation for lore deep discussion or arguments; and I would like to keep them that way and for people to be conscientious of this. This is a blog for my enjoyment, and literally nothing else. Comments on the subject matter are fine, of course, and interactions with posts too; I just feel it needs to be stressed, if you're nitpicking lore, you're nitpicking with a fictional woman. Thank you, Bear PS: I plan on more activity than I have had, things have been hectic on my end because, well life happens to us all. You'll get some posts about the new content, at some point.
How did you feel about Rell?
"Rell... Rell was a tragedy. Not only another one of the Orokin's many sins, but also a sin of his brothers and sisters. Not cast out once, but twice. I was always ashamed of how he was treated, especially after everything rapidly deteriorated..." "Rell always had more understanding than all of us. Of the void, and later the Man in the Wall. I never understood why the others thought he would be a hindrance, knowledge after all, is power... I firmly believe there would have been less loss overall had he not been bullied off. His treatment was part of why I split from the main group, however, that's a story for another time... The entire situation on the Zariman was a mess." "I learned of his sacrifice long after joining the Red Veil, which... Admittedly unnerved me, had I known prior I most likely would have placed my allegiance elsewhere. Though, allegiance is... A strong word with me, so maybe it isn't quite that... Either way, I still don't quite agree with how he ended up. I just hope he has peace now... But if you want my feelings summed up simply? I enjoyed his company, and I enjoyed listening. Even if it was not mutual, I at least considered him a friend... Maybe still do." || As for my actual feelings, I enjoy Rell as a character, and I am very pleased with DE's attempt at writing an autistic character. Not big on the savant angle because it's overdone, but I recognize there was no malice involved. His arc and what eventually happens to him bothers me a little bit, because I've never been big on what I see as needless character sacrifice. Especially if said character belongs to an under-represented group, more so if I am in that group like with Rell. But, my impressions on him overall are very good. And, I want DE to keep trying with characters in the way they did with Rell.
Also feel like we need an updated image of my girl. Here she is, very tired.
Alright, vacation starts tomorrow, so after I get my Pumpkin Spice latte; expect me to get around to posting things I've had planned for a while.
Including some actual lore for my girl and her frames, maybe.
Been playing around with Reshade lately, here's some quick and dirty Captura using the NTSC_Retroarch filter through Reshade. Kind of been on a nostalgia kick lately, and wanted to experiment around. Ditching the old, cheap CRT filter my posts have had in the past; so am going to be experimenting going forward as I make more posts. This aesthetic really works well particularly in Corpus spaces.
Question for the mun of this blog, do you roleplay just as your Operator here, or do you roleplay as your Drifter here also?
So, my answer is "yes." As of the events of the New War, my Operator and my Drifter are essentially one in the same, just two separate facets if that makes sense. While many people like to hard differentiate the two, my approach is they're just different sides of a coin. It's my way of translating the game mechanics to lore. Given only one of them can exist on a particular thread at a time, without shenanigans from an outside force, my take is one is fully aware of the other and what they're doing and the two can communicate with each other while one is in control. At least, as of The New War. It explains how their mastery of weapons and Warframes is shared, it explains how they share the same social connections on the thread of possibilities they exist on, and so on. I guess a simple way to describe it would be how Team Four Star handles Nail/Kami/Piccolo. Only, the two can trade places behind the wheel as necessary. My Drifter and Operator chose a fluid path of cooperation opposed to wanting to remain two distinctly separate entities, because they believe they are stronger together. Their experiences are shared, their knowledge is shared, etc. It even ties in to my morality currently being walking the line between sun and moon to represent one of the few areas the two clash. Primarily, my Drifter is usually the one in control, because my Operator has decided she wants to backseat after everything she went through during The New War. Though, she does provide insight; advice; etc to my Drifter as they need it. And, I have sprinklings throughout my blog of this kind of thing. I hope this made any level of sense. Eternalism is kind of messy, and game mechanics complicate it a bit more, so this is me trying to make sense of it in a way that's fun.
Blog name change.
MotherCalysta >> CalystaTheBear It's more fitting. Apologies for inactivity, still dealing with the whole... Life implosion on my end.
