The 1970s, a time when the commitment to nicotine was so profound that one simply couldn't pause smoking long enough to drag a razor across one's face. This is a classic installment of the "Oh, the disadvantages" campaign, which humorously highlighted that their cigarettes were just too long for practical living. Here we have a rugged outdoorsman dealing with the tragic physics of luxury tobacco: the 100mm stick vs. the laws of spatial proximity. You have to admire the dedication involved in getting shaving cream, pine needles, and cigarette ash all over your face simultaneously.

Calamity Jayne

William Jayne was Abraham Lincoln’s personal physician in Springfield, which is pretty cool. But his beard is barely visible, and that is a calamity.
