“𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐋 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇” || 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐎𝐒𝐇𝐈
Imagine deliveryboy! Legoshi who delivers to your nail salon once..and is never the same again.
Legoshi was used to deliveries.
Drop off the food, politely greet the customer, collect payment, then leave.
Simple.
Routine.
Safe.
That’s why when the udon shop got an order for a nail salon a few streets down, he didn’t think much of it.
He just adjusted the delivery bag on his shoulder, repeated the order number in his head so he wouldn’t mess it up, and walked in.
The moment the door chimed open, warm air carrying the scent of lotion, polish, and faint acetone hit him.
Then you looked up.
“Hey! Delivery for Ms. Hina?”
Your voice was soft.
Calm.
Gentle.
And suddenly Legoshi forgot how to function.
Because standing there behind the counter, looking up at him with that warm smile, you were the prettiest person he had ever seen in his life.
His ears shot upright.
His tail stiffened behind him.
His heart slammed so hard in his chest he was sure everyone in the salon could hear it.
“Hello?”
“U-uh yes—I mean!—delivery!—”
He nearly dropped the bag.
One of the older clients getting her claws filed glanced over.
Then another.
Then another.
And because Legoshi was Legoshi, every ounce of his panic showed on his face.
You blinked at him, still smiling sweetly.
“Yes, that’s my client. Are you okay?”
And that was somehow even worse.
Because now you sounded concerned.
“Y-Yeah! Sorry! I’m okay! I just—uh—the noodles—”
He fumbled with the receipt so badly that one of the women in the waiting chairs covered her mouth to hide a grin.
Another leaned toward her friend with the kind of whisper that was definitely not quiet enough.
“Ohhh look at him.”
“He’s smitten.”
Poor Legoshi looked like he wanted the floor to swallow him whole.
His face burned under his fur as he handed over the order.
You accepted it with a soft laugh, not mean, not mocking, just warm.
“Thank you, Legoshi..”
And the second you said his name after reading his nametag?
He was done for.
Absolutely done for.
He walked out of that salon in a daze, ears burning, heart racing, replaying your voice in his head over and over.
After that, Legoshi started volunteering for every delivery to the salon.
Every.
Single.
One.
The other workers at the udon shop noticed almost immediately.
“There’s an order for the nail place.”
“I’ll take it.”
“Legoshi, you took the last four.”
“I said I’ll take it.”
They all exchanged looks while Legoshi pretended not to understand why they were staring.
But he knew.
He just couldn’t stop himself.
Because every time he walked into the salon, you smiled at him like you were genuinely happy to see him.
And every time, it ruined him.
“Hi Legoshi!”
That soft little greeting made his tail wag before he could stop it.
He’d stand there awkwardly clutching the delivery bag while you came to the counter.
“Busy day?”
And he’d stumble over every word.
“A little. Not bad. Um. You?”
You always spoke to him so casually, like he wasn’t a trembling mess in front of you.
Sometimes the older clients would notice.
Actually, everyone noticed.
Especially when Legoshi would stand there for half a second too long after handing over the food, like he was trying to gather the courage to say literally anything else.
The ladies in the salon loved it.
“Oh, your sweet wolf is here again.”
Legoshi almost choked.
“HER WHAT?!”
You laughed softly while his ears flattened in panic.
One client grinned.
“He only blushes like that when he talks to you.”
“I-I do not!—”
His face turned even redder.
And the worst part?
You never teased him cruelly.
You just smiled in that patient, gentle way that made his chest ache.
It made him want to stay.
It made him want to learn how to talk to you without making a fool of himself.
It made him start coming by even when there wasn’t a delivery.
The first time he did it, he stood outside the salon door for nearly ten minutes trying to convince himself to walk in.
His hand would reach for the handle..
Then pull back.
Then reach again.
Then pull back.
Until finally one of your clients leaving the salon opened the door for him.
“Oh! Delivery boy! Going in?”
Legoshi nearly died on the spot.
When he stepped inside, you looked up from your station.
“Legoshi?”
His ears twitched.
“Hey…”
You smiled.
“No delivery today?”
“No no, I was just…in the area.”
It was the most obvious lie in history.
And yet you didn’t call him out.
Instead, your expression softened.
“Well I’m glad you stopped by.”
That sentence kept him awake all night.
Then one evening, near closing time, the udon shop got an order from the salon.
Legoshi took it, of course.
He arrived to find the front sign flipped to closed.
The lights were dimmer.
The salon was quiet.
And when you opened the door, it was just you.
“Oh, perfect!” you said with a smile. “I was hoping it’d be you.”
Legoshi froze.
“Hoping?”
You took the food from him and tilted your head.
“Of course”
You’d guide him inside, instead of letting him leave right after drop off.
“I noticed you always stare at the claw-care posters when you come in.”
His soul left his body.
“I thought maybe you’d be interested.”
He looked ready to combust.
“Interested?”
“With your claws.”
You gestured toward one of the empty chairs.
“Come sit. I’ll show you how to care for them properly.”
Legoshi’s brain short-circuited.
He sat only because his body obeyed before his mind did.
You pulled the chair closer, so calm, so focused, like this was the most normal thing in the world.
Meanwhile Legoshi was dying.
“Relax..” you murmured gently.
“I-I am relaxed.”
He was absolutely not relaxed.
You took one of his hands carefully, turning it slightly so you could inspect his claws.
And the moment your fingers touched his palm, his breath caught.
Your hands were warm.
Soft.
Careful.
You held his claws so delicately, like you weren’t intimidated at all.
“See here?” you said quietly, guiding his hand “The edges can be smoothed so they don’t snag.”
Legoshi could barely hear you over the sound of his heartbeat.
Because you were holding his hand.
Because your face was so close.
Because every gentle touch sent his mind spiraling.
And you were just being kind.
He was so stiff that you smiled.
“You’re nervous.”
“N-No.”
“You’re shaking.”
“Shit, s-sorry..”
That made your expression soften even more.
“No need to apologize.”
You kept filing slowly, showing him how to care for his claws, how to moisturize the cuticles, how to keep them healthy.
And Legoshi watched your hands the entire time, afraid that if he looked at your face he might melt into the chair.
Then quietly, almost too soft to hear, he said
“No one’s ever done this for me before..”
You paused, then smiled.
“Well, then I’m glad I got to be the first.”
That sentence nearly killed him.
His ears lowered shyly, tail thumping heavily against the chair.
And when you finished, you gently turned his hand over, admiring your work.
“There..much better.”
Legoshi stared at his hand, then at you.
And with his face burning brighter than ever, he whispered
“Thank you..”
You smiled that same warm smile that got him from the start.
“Come back anytime, Legoshi.”
And that was all it took.
Because Legoshi walked out of that salon knowing with terrifying certainty that he was hopelessly, helplessly in love.

I recently got into reading the beastars manga (for the first time?!) I really like it. It's nice being able to have more context to the story outside of the anime. I already enjoyed it before reading the manga, but now that I know more about it, it's taking up a lot of space in my brain. I really love this series.
where are the PLATONIC beastars fanfics?
