September 26/27, 1981 - Long-time friend May Pang accompanied Cynthia to the New York Metro Beatlefest where she had a dealer’s table in the Flea Market offering autographed posters of her art work (drawings that had illustrated her 1978 book, A Twist of Lennon) for $30 each.

Cynthia had been staying with May while stateside for her first American exhibition at Southampton’s Tower Gallery which had opened Labor Day weekend. Cyn’s first appearance at Beatlefest was low-key but still attracted much attention when fans were surprised and delighted to meet her.

Note: It’s not customary for Flea Market sellers to be “invited”, “announced” or expected to speak. Anyone who pays the fee for a table is in.

Watching this year's Beatlefest on zoom. The people in the chat are really sweet. I've been going to the fest since I can remember so it's awesome that even though we can't go physically this year, we're still able to watch and listen to the music :D
