6/100 Days of Productivity

Who said Monday exams were a great idea? The semesters coming to a close and final exams are coming up! After this Genetics exam, the next exams I have will be for finals week...
3/100 Days of Productivity
Spent majority of my Saturday indoors sleeping in and taking naps. I really didn’t do much today, but sometimes, being productive also means taking the time to unwind and relax for yourself.
Wrapped up the evening with some light homework. The thing that’s great about Winter term is the fact that you only have to focus on one class for two weeks. It’s a great way to knock out some unnecessary requirements or take a class that you really need to focus on.
1/100 Days of Productivity
In my efforts to restart my study blog, I’ve decided to partake in the 100 days of productivity challenge! First and foremost, I know that having a studyblr isn’t all about the aesthetic and having millions of colored pens, knowing how to design notes in calligraphy, and buying expensive, branded notebooks. Studyblr’s are meant to help and inspire people to be productive, even without the fancily designed notes. Through helpful tips, step-by-step procedures, and routines, bloggers who focus on academic/study material can help hardworking students through their tough schedules and whatever trouble they may face during their academic careers. At least that’s what it is for me.
Personally, I think the visuals are just a plus. As a Computer Science major who stares at bland code majority of the time, Graphic Design, Photography, and Film seem to be a good contrast to balance me out.
Anywho, here’s to getting back on blogging about my academic experiences and hoping to inspire those in the community! I have yet to tweak my theme and create an About Me page, but if I’ve intrigued you enough, feel free to reblog and hit the ‘Follow’ button!
Happy studying!
6/100 Days of Productivity
For my sixth day I’d like to introduce one of my favorite productivity apps. Forest adopts the pomodoro technique and puts a creative spin to it! The timer can be set for something as short as 10 minutes to as long as 120 minutes/2 hours. For every time you complete, a new tree will be planted in your forest! The app tracks your progress daily so you can see how productive you can be day by day. With coins that you earn per tree, you can unlock more tree types!
One of the best things about this app is the fact that there is a Safari Extension. So I can very much use it in my browser. It allows me to create a blacklist or list of websites that I shouldn’t be visiting when I’m trying to be productive. If I do, a notification pops up that reminds me I am in the middle of tree-planting and continuing to go to the website will kill the tree. On mobile, the tree is automatically killed when you exit the app. Yes, even if you do something as simple as checking a simple notification. This is called “phubbing,” which pretty much means you’re snubbing someone in favor of a mobile phone. Pretty clever huh?
Whether it’s for cleaning my room and staying off my phone, or doing my homework on my laptop and staying off social media sites, Forest is there to keep me in check!
Not convinced? Download it and see for yourself! I think you can even add friends to see each other’s productivity progress. :-) And make sure you let me know how you like it!
Happy tree planting!
Thank you @crazyhorseandgoatlady for tagging me! The 11 question challenge requires you to answer 11 questions provided by the person who tagged you, 11 additional question for the people you tag, and a few people to tag!
I’ve never participated in tags or have been tagged by fellow studyblr’s so it’s such a huge honor to finally partake in one. Thanks again @crazyhorseandgoatlady!
1. What is the thing you love most about yourself? How talkative I am. My family always jokes about how I never stopped talking as a baby, which has pretty much carried over to adulthood…I used to be somewhat embarrassed/insecure about it, but I’ve honestly come to embrace it. Being social and extroverted isn’t something a lot of people can do and I think it’s a huge plus that I can approach and talk to people without fear (or minimal fear).
2. What do you wish you could be doing 10 years from now? I’ll be 31 in ten years. Hopefully, by then, I have a pretty stable career in some Software Engineering or Web Development company, happily married with twin babies, and my dream Pinterest-worthy home.
3. Whats your favourite animal and why? Dogs. Hands down. They’re so happy and innocent and do absolutely nothing their whole lives but please their humans. They love unconditionally, can be extremely loyal, and are super smart. I think it’s also interesting how dogs can be huge reflections of their owners. That human-pet dynamic is mindblowing to me, but I think it gives more validation to the saying “a dog is a man’s best friend”.
4. Christmas/¿Winter Holiday¿¿ or Halloween? Christmas! I’ve never been a huge Halloween fan, even when I was younger, but I’ve always loved Christmas!
5. Sciences or Humanities I’m a science major but I think humanities courses are imperative to take alongside science courses. Just watch Black Mirror. It pretty much makes a statement saying STEM majors should take ethics classes. There’s so much more to science and technology than studying code, equations, and theories. What’s more important is how it can be applied and used for issues or rather, solutions; topics that a lot of humanities courses study.
6. Who inspires you to be the best version of yourself? God, first and foremost, and then my past self. I know that may seem conceited but my mentality when it comes to this is, “how will you know where you want to go if you don’t know where you’ve been?” Other than that, my boyfriend does a good job of keeping my head up when I need the extra motivational push.
7. Favourite day of the week? Friday!
8. Favourite past time and why? Endlessly scribbling on my planner and plastering it with stickers! It’s therapeutic to me for some reason. Writing down events, plans, and goals for the day, week, or month gives me some sort of peace and serenity. I sound crazy but I’m not alone on this, I know it.
9. If you could go back in time and change something that happened to you, would you do it? (You don’t have to say what it is) Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The experience has shaped me to be who I am today, which I’m truly thankful for, but sometimes I can’t help but tell myself, “I could’ve really lived without having to encounter that”. Then again, maybe I wouldn’t be where I am today without that something, and that’s the reason I say I wouldn’t want to change a thing.
10. Favourite meme of 2017? I’m not a huge meme person but I’ve always enjoyed the “hits blunt” questions or the mocking Spongebob ones.
11. If you could meet anyone from any point in time, who would it be? J. Cole

Will I ever finish this 100 days of productivity tag? The world may never know. Just kidding. I’m pretty determined to finish this tag off by this summer. Then I’ll probably start a new one in the Fall.
Today’s productivity consists of the remainder of my A&P-II lectures as well as finishing up my presentation for tomorrow. This summer class went by really fast, I can’t believe it.
Nevertheless, I’m ready to finish it off strong!
Let’s get it.
