Money Saving Ideas During Social Distancing
by: Acesha Unlimited
03/23/2020
If you're like most American's, aside from thinking about your health, safety and maybe how long your toilet paper will last; money may be the next thing on your mind. Long before the days of over priced Hand Sanitizer on eBay, money has always had a main seat at the table of our minds. During this time of social distancing and job closures, making and saving some extra cash became more important. I wanted to share with you ways I'm attempting to save some cash and stretch what I have. Broken down into categories, (feel free to jump to what applies) here's a few ways I attempt to save during the lock-down.
WORK
(if you're one of the few people who have to work during this time)
Public Transit: It seems to be a no-no but there are actually less people traveling to work so less chance of exposure. This will limit how often you drive your car and will cut down on your weekly gas bill.
Ride Share/Car Pooling: OK so public transportation still freaks you out? Then try riding with one or two other people; you'll also save money on travel expenses.
Limit Work Clothing: Pick out a few of your favorite outfits to mix and match throughout the week. This should save you money on laundry each week by cutting down on load size and the amount of laundry detergent.
Work Lunch: Prep your work lunch meals in advance to cut down on weekly spending. You can also brew your morning coffee at home and take it to go.
HOME
Cook to Last a Few Days: One pot/pan meals like Lasagna, Crock Pot recipes and, Stuffing are meals that you can cook today and eat for a few days after.
Be Creative with Food:
When you’re day two and just about tired of that meal...
Change the flavor of a meal for example remix stuffing by adding your favorite red pasta sauce to make it savory.
Change the form of a dish like Mac and cheese, which can be breaded and deep fried into Mac and Cheese Balls.
Revisit the Old and Give it New Life: Have a box of tea bags that's been sitting in your cabinet for ages. Even if its not the traditional black or green tea bags, try making a typical hot tea flavor into a cold brew.
BEAUTY
Home made Beauty Products I mixed coffee grounds with my favorite oil and made a exfoliating shower scrub.
What are your money saving ideas?
Underarm Lightening Is a popular beauty hack that many women are opting to try this summer. Also a great way to detox, so give this tool a try.
Apply cuticle oil on top of nail polish. This hydrates, gives shine, and keeps the nail polish flexible, preventing cracking/peeling, and increasing the wear of your manicure.
Beauty hack - Olive oil
Olive oil can be used for so many things! Here are some ways you can incorporate it into your skincare/beauty regime:
Double cleansing - if you don’t want to spend a lot on double cleansers, go for olive oil instead. I always pour some into a cup, then scoop what I need out and apply straight to my face. It removes your make up so easily, and gives you a glow to boot. Then, simply use your water-based cleanser afterwards. Double cleansing, done.
Haircare - olive oil is a great conditioner for your hair! But, use it before your shampoo. I made the mistake of applying it afterwards and yikes, it wasn’t going anywhere with just water to rinse. So, apply olive oil onto wet hair first, then rinse with shampoo. It makes hair super shiny and soft to the touch.
Hands - if you have seriously dry hands, it’s amazing how olive oil can remedy that in no time. Rub the olive oil onto your hands, and on your nails too - it helps them to grow stronger. Then, apply your hand lotion. Soak your hands in warm water for 10 minutes, then dry your hands and apply more hand lotion. Boom, now you have the smoothest hands to hold.
I hope these tips help!
