i think the " kids shouldnt be using skincare " thing online really needs to be more specific. a 12 year old wants to use sunscreen and moisturiser ? sure, thats fine. when i was 12 i had a a moisturiser, sunscreen, lip balm ( i basically only used pawpaw ), and this shiny stuff that my nanna gave me ( i think it might have been a glowy primer ? im not sure, but it made me all sparkly so i liked it ). the problem is when kids use skincare thats not for them. ive seen so many videos of 11-13 year olds using retinol and various antiaging products. those are not for you. i saw a video recently that said " im 14 and these are all the steps im taking to slow down the aging process " and its like. you arent even done with puberty yet. you should not be worrying about getting wrinkles. you should not be worried about your skin aging.
i think its also important to talk about why theyre using certain products as well. you want to use sunscreen to protect your skin ? good for you ! you want to use sunscreen because you want to prevent wrinkles and dont want your skin to age ? thats a completely different story and its sad that a child is worried about things like that.
i also think that a lot of the reason that anti aging stuff is pushed to young people ( especially young girls, but its pushed to others too ) is because of pedophilic beauty standards designed to keep people looking as young as possible, but thats a conversation for a different post.
what im trying to say is, skincare isnt all bad for kids to use. it just depends on what theyre using and why theyre using it.

When it comes to skincare, there’s no one-size-fits-all. Some people swear by thick, buttery creams, while others can’t stand anything heavier than a light serum. But why do products even come in rich and light formulations? And more importantly, how do you know which one your skin truly needs?
Just found this now and I'm not lying when I say it had me legit cackling!!!! for 15 minutes straight!!!! Its so true though!!!
