i bet a lot of people cackled madly about Azazel's death in DoFP because he's widely despised, mostly because the "hey guess what Kurt's dad is a literal demon OHOHOHOHO" is generally considered the worst X-Men story, and there've been some really bad ones. I listen to a podcast where part of it is the hosts trying to list as many comics as they can from best to worst, and the "Kurt is a literal demon because symbolism isn't XTREME U GUYS" is listed as 4th worst out of 166 (so far)
The movies used him in the best possible way then, because they set up that he exists and has Kurt’s powers (down the same particle effect only red and same fucking sound effect) and tail. Like the exact same looking tail, so it was all on fucking purpose. They weren’t just teasing us, which is nice.
And then after he’s made his valuable contribution to the x-gene pool, he is dead.
Kurt never has to meet the fucknut who gave him half his genes. Many other Nightcrawler’s aren’t as lucky. Or have Destiny as another parent instead.
With all that said, believing that Azazel is his dad made that one scene in dofp where Mystique sees a pic of his dead body really sad.
Even sadder now that Kurt is almost certain to be their kid.
Like Azazel is terrible as a person and a character, but that must’ve been real horrible for her to see. That was the father of her baby. And they were possibly friends for a bit?? We dunno what exactly happened between movies there.
Alls I know is that they fucked. (Mystique you have poor taste but thank you)
