super late replies to ‘Juneau’

I love your comics - the story is great, the art work is beautiful and tells just as much of the story as the text, which is one of the aspects of comics that I love. This feels professionally done, and is higher quality than some “professional” comics I’ve read.
AND THEN YOU ANIMATE THEM. That’s just…his eyes moving from the Captain America game to Mortal Combat - it put him (and me) so solidly in the arcade.
Take your time, I understand life and earning a living coming before fanfic, but I will look forward to the next bit.
“... This feels professionally done...” <---- thank you! *happy cries*
“...it put him (and me) so solidly in the arcade.” <---- i was genuinely worried the animations might be too gimmicky, and as soon as i made one animation it got outta control (as usual) and i just kept making more. *facepalm* i’m very happy the eye shift animation worked out and wasn’t a distraction then. <3

#yooooo... how amazing is this? #oh and hey buck - i know MK is awesome and it's easy to be distracted by the cool fatalities but... #don'tcha wanna go back and take a longer look at that last game...? hmm?
he came sooooo close to remembering something *sad sigh*, but then who can resist the siren song that is Scorpion’s ‘GET OVER HERE!’ ? :P

“look at that little skinny guy playing the captain america game“
*grins* a little skinny guy who mysteriously disappears when bucky turns around to look...i couldn’t help myself. i just had to squeeze some steeeb FEELS into this comic.

bucky's single raised eyebrow in panel 8 though! fantastic!
*is a little embarrassed* i...might have drawn this entire comic just so i would have context for drawing the winter soldier’s reaction to mortal kombat.
i wish i was kidding

#Juneau! #I lived there recently and this view is lovely #also the random taxidermy in random places #Alaska #Also Bucky!
*screeches* awesome! @monicawoe‘s been to Juneau, i’ve never been, but i can totally relate to the aesthetic since i was born and raised in a somewhat isolated northern community. carved wooden animal statues and taxidermy and ravens and snow FTW! <3

#i love both this artist and the fic series this is based on #this 90s arcade aesthetic is so accurate to my childhood #it's just dead-on uncannily correct #i was always terrible at the games mind you #but i remember all of this so vividly
“it's just dead-on uncannily correct“ <---- hee hee. drawing this comic was such a fun trip down memory lane to my early/mid-teen years. i couldn’t even tell you how many tokens i spent on the MK and Bubble Bobble games.

I don’t know how to describe why @luckyraeve‘s depiction of Bucky is so effective. There have been a lot of fanart depictions of Bucky’s time under HYDRA but the entirety of HTMYAW is just–I don’t know how the eyes look so deadened, but it’s all right there. Everything that HYDRA did to him is right there in his lifeless face and his microexpressions. The way his gaze is often the only thing that moves, as though he’s been paralyzed and he’s trapped inside his unmoving body.
It’s fucking eerie, is what it is.
*cries* omg THANK YOU this comment means everything!
that ‘look’ is honestly the most important thing for me every time i draw bucky bc it’s the main reason i love sebastian’s performance so much. if i can do his performance even a little bit of justice then i am a happy artist. :D
