As much as I am all for adding diversity to MCU, I'd say don't get your hopes up too high for them to change-up Peter. I'd love to see Donald Glover as Miles Morales as much as the next person, but if we're being brutally honest here, Marvel is going to search for the most recognizable version of Spider-Man there is. They're going to want people to instantly connect with that character so that the line is drawn--yes, this is still the same spider-man, and yes, he is here in the Marvel movies now too.

Like it or not, the most recognizable iteration of the character is Peter--definitely not a girl and most likely white. So while most of tumblr is going to lose its mind when another white boy is cast into the MCU, I really don't think THIS is the battleground upon which to fight for that diversity.

I understood people's frustration with the casting of Cumberbatch, since Dr. Strange could EASILY have been cast as a POC, and I'm thrilled that we'll finally be getting Black Panther and Captain Marvel and I really hope Marvel wises up and gives us a Black Widow movie in addition to building upon the zillion other awesome ladies and POCs in the Marvelverse, but I think it's unrealistic to imagine that Peter will be cast in any way that might be construed as unconventional.
