Chapter 1: A Dreamer
『Location: Wyndon, Galar』
Both trainers and Pokémon were also energized by the crowd's cheer. The champion was not letting up nor was the young challenger.
“And both Giganta-Max Charizard and Dynamax M̷̢̗̥̦̩̱̙͗̽̓i̶̢̟̳͉͈͈̗̞̺̎̿͗̓̂͊̈́̎̂͘l̵̢̯͈̫̲̹̪͂̓̓̒͑̚͝ớ̶̖ţ̵̧̱̙͇̰͚͙̣̑̌̈́ï̷̻͓͕̪̃ͅc̵͙̣̹͇̃̾̊́̓͌̿͐͘̚ revert back to their original form! Who will take the crown???!”
The two Pokémon are tired out after their previous clash of attacks. However they were not done yet, they let out cries signifying that they still had energy and spirit to fight. This threw the crowd into an even more frenzy of cheers and applause.
“Heh…I must admit you are truly a strong trainer Y/N. You and your M̷̢̗̥̦̩̱̙͗̽̓i̶̢̟̳͉͈͈̗̞̺̎̿͗̓̂͊̈́̎̂͘l̵̢̯͈̫̲̹̪͂̓̓̒͑̚͝ớ̶̖ţ̵̧̱̙͇̰͚͙̣̑̌̈́ï̷̻͓͕̪̃ͅc̵͙̣̹͇̃̾̊́̓͌̿͐͘̚ are in perfect sync!”
“Thank you Mr. Leon! Likewise! Battling you is truly an experience to savor…however we will not lose!”
Leon smirks and crosses his arms over his chest “I love your spirit kid! Reminds me of my brother who is around your age. Anyways I’m afraid I cannot lose either, I must maintain the good image of an older brother!”
You giggle at his statement “That’s cute and all but we won’t lose here! Right M̷̢̗̥̦̩̱̙͗̽̓i̶̢̟̳͉͈͈̗̞̺̎̿͗̓̂͊̈́̎̂͘l̵̢̯͈̫̲̹̪͂̓̓̒͑̚͝ớ̶̖ţ̵̧̱̙͇̰͚͙̣̑̌̈́ï̷̻͓͕̪̃ͅc̵͙̣̹͇̃̾̊́̓͌̿͐͘̚?”
M̷̢̗̥̦̩̱̙͗̽̓i̶̢̟̳͉͈͈̗̞̺̎̿͗̓̂͊̈́̎̂͘l̵̢̯͈̫̲̹̪͂̓̓̒͑̚͝ớ̶̖ţ̵̧̱̙͇̰͚͙̣̑̌̈́ï̷̻͓͕̪̃ͅc̵͙̣̹͇̃̾̊́̓͌̿͐͘̚ looks back at you and gives an enthusiastic nod.
“Hah, very well then! Let’s finish this off with one move! Ready Charizard?”
“Very well then! Let’s do this!”
“Finish this with fireblast!”
“End it with h̸̙͐̊ͅý̸̧̩͓̦̩̙͍͔́̄̾̎̽̕͝ͅd̷͔̑͂̀͘̚r̶̞̣͔̯̹͎̙̭͚͆͒̔̔̄̓ö̵̜̣̫͙͖͎̯̟̟́ ̵̻̭̟̭̉̔̅̅͠p̸̢̜̤̪̾̈́̀u̸̜̰̹̒ṃ̵̧̛͍͓̖͎̞̝̞͒̀͛̒̃̔̌̑͠p̷̠͖̹̪͉̈́̀̀̈́̃͆͘!!”
The moves collided and created an explosion however one move was able to push through…
Who’s that Pokemon?
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
The sound of a blaring alarm clock cuts this action packed dream short, forcing you to jolt up confused and drowsy.
A soft knock was heard opposite of your room and you turned your head sleepily to the direction as the door opened ajar slightly. A blonde woman you knew stepped forward and did a quick scan of your room before finally looking at your sleepy self.
She hums softly before taking a quick peek at her clipboard and finally spoke, “On time I see. Your parents wish to see you immediately after breakfast. Quickly get settled because I refuse to be a single minute behind schedule.”
The lady turns around, not awaiting your answer and before she shuts your door she glances back at you one last time, “And please dress appropriately, Chairman Rose will also be there and I sincerely doubt they want their daughter making a fool out of herself to their boss.” And she closes the door, not wanting to hear any reluctance.
Beep! Beep! Beep! Be—
You shut down the alarm and fall back into bed, exhaling deeply and thinking it would be a great idea to roll off your bed.
Thud
“Ow…”
It was in fact a bad idea.
The rest of the morning was a blur. All you knew was waking up, dressed up, had breakfast, and proceeded to be thrown into a Corviknight cab to be sent who-knows-where.
You gaze out the window, appreciating the view before arriving at your destination.
The shuffling of paper snapped your attention away from the view and to the new source of sound. That’s when you remember about the blonde secretary who came for you. She was strict and uptight and only spoke if it was something important.
In short, boring.
“Are we there yet?”
She doesn’t respond and proceeds to flip through the pages on her clipboard.
“Are we there yet?”
She exhales deeply and raises her head to meet your lazy figure. You were about to ask again just for fun but freeze in your attempt as you felt a shiver run down your spine. Her gaze was cold and piercing as if she was looking right through your childish banter and daring you to try again and find out the consequences.
You straighten your posture and glued your eyes to the ground. “Sorry, I’m being insufferable…” you mumble out quietly.
She goes back to reviewing the indescribable paperwork. And thus the ride to who-knows-where went back to being boring.
The who-knows-where turned out to be Macro Cosmos stationed at Rose Tower! Did you still know the reason behind this visit? Nope!
Once again, you were thrown into a well decorated room with a bunch of other 10 year olds who were just as confused as you are.
You take the chance to scan the other kids and none were too outstanding. However, there was a platinum-blonde hair boy who was also away from the group of children and also observed the crowd. He was average looking and looked like he had an inflated ego for whatever reason.
A mysterious voice suddenly says, “One, two, three, is this working?”
Everyone turned their attention to the direction of the voice who turned out to be…
“Chairman Rose!!” The children squeal in delight.
Everyone quickly takes their seats to give their undivided attention to the man on stage. You had a decent view of him from the middle section of the audience.
Chairman Rose smiles in delight at the sight of well educated and mindful children. He watches everyone carefully before speaking, “How are you all this lovely morning?”
“Good!” Everyone said.
Chairman Rose chuckles at the energized response and proceeds with the moment, “Thank you for coming here. You must be wondering ‘Why did Mom and Dad make me come here?’ Right?”
Murmurs could be heard from the crowd. He smiles fondly, “Well wonder no more! Today is a momentous day because I have decided to provide all of my precious employees kin an opportunity to own Pokémon!”
Everyone gasped in surprise but was later swept away with cheers. The children began to jump up and down in joy and gave their thanks to Chairman Rose.
‘Our own Pokémon?! This was totally worth being dragged here for!’
“The only thing I ask of you is…,” the children stopped celebrating momentarily to hear their benefactors' request, “is that you love, care, and cherish your Pokémon.”
All the children promised with a ‘Yes sir’ and waited patiently for any further announcements.
Satisfied with their answer he proceeds, “And who better to teach you about Pokémon than…,” he takes a step back to present, “Our newly crowned Champion Leon!”
The room buzzed in cheer once more after Leon’s introduction. He steps forward to the stage and flashes his signature smile to the children.
“Thank you Chairman Rose for the introduction!” Leon takes out a poké ball and shows it for everyone to see, “Anyone wanna guess who’s inside?”
The children began to throw guesses that ranged from Magikarp to even Arceus.
“Maybe it’s a cute Pachirisu!” A girl says.
A boy crosses his arms, “I doubt that. Maybe it’s an awesome Rockruff!”
“Or maybe even ralts!” Another chimed in.
Leon chuckles in amusement, watching everyone getting excited. “All right, settle down now…,” Everyone quiets down and watches him intently. Leon smirks and jerks his left arm back, “Now I want you all to meet…,” he launches the ball into the air, “Fletchling!”
The Fletchling comes out of its poké ball and flies around the room. Everyone watches in awe as Fletchling flies about. It finally goes back to Leon and lands on his right shoulder.
“Now then,” he raises both his arms in the air, “Who’s ready to choose their starters?”
“Me!” “Me!” “Me!” “Me!” “Me!”
Many workers emerge from the doors and begin to showcase all the Pokémon the children can choose from; there was a bountiful Pokémon from all the regions.
You walk around the room, scanning each Pokémon and determining your choice. ‘Hmmm…who to choose?’
You recall your unfinished dream from this morning. ‘Hmmm, was that supposed to be a sense of deja vu? Then that could mean my destined partner is in this room!’
After much time passed there was still no luck. You should settle for one and fast, many good picks are being chosen left and right. But then…
“No no no no, I can’t be feeling this now of all times!”
You look around anxiously for an unoccupied worker but they obviously had their hands tied. You grumbled in annoyance and began to walk towards the entrance before someone stopped you.
“Where are you going? You haven’t chosen a Pokémon and you’re leaving? A bit ungrateful don’t you think?”
You halt in your tracks and angrily turn to the source, it was the platinum-blonde kid from earlier. “Look, I’m not ungrateful it’s just that…”
He sneers, “it’s just what?”
Your face turns pink in embarrassment, “I really really need to use the bathroom right now…”
His face morphs into that of ‘are-you-serious’ look. He shakes his head and walks ahead of you, “I’ll lead the way. Be grateful that I’m feeling nice.
‘I hate this kid already.’
“I really hope there are still leftover Pokémon!” You say in a panic, rushing through the building.
“H-hey! You’re not even going the right way!”
You stop and turn around to see the boy finally catch up to you, “I thought you said it was this way?!”
“No, I was saying how after a turn we should’ve done would then be just a beeline to the showcase room!”
“Then…,” realization began to settle in, “are we even going to make it back on time?”
“Doubt it.”
You gasp and dramatically fall onto your knees. The boy flinches at your sudden change in behavior and quickly tries to say something, “Maybe Chairman Rose will still let you choose! If there is any left over that is…” he says the last part quietly.
“You think so?” You ask hopefully.
“Totally…!” He says in an unsure tone.
Oh right, where are you at the moment? Some random hall of Rose Tower. Or was it just some random hall?
“Karp, karp, karp…”
A sudden noise from an unmistakable Magikarp caught yours and the boy's attention.
“Hey…,” you start. You stand up once more and walk towards the protective glass in awe, “where are we?”
The boy standing next to you is equally amazed, “This is Rose Tower Pokémon sanctuary.”
There were many Pokémon that resided in this sanctuary. It had many biomes to provide a comfortable home for the Pokémon.
There were grass type Pokémon bathing under the artificial light. Ground type Pokémon making random holes in the dry lands. Flying type Pokémon flying in the air with grace. Water Pokémon splashing about in glee, and so much more!
“I want to go in…”
“What?”
“I want to go in.” You said firmly.
The boy closes his eyes, shakes his head, and crosses his arm, “No. This area is strictly off limits and if we…” he opens his eyes once more to see you were no longer next to him. “Oh no…”
“Hey look!” You call him from inside the sanctuary. “This is ten times cooler in person!”
“Wait no! Come back!” He hisses. You either ignored him or didn’t hear because you kept going inside to explore. The boy panics and ends up going inside to drag you out by force.
The inside of the sanctuary was indeed ten times better in person. You walked in deeper into the sanctuary but one biome in particular was calling for you: the water biome.
You carefully approached the water biome to watch all the water Pokémon in awe. There were Wingulls, Staryus, Magikarps, Froakies, Piplups, Bruxishs, Mudkips, and the list goes on and on.
‘Oh my goodness they are all adorable!’
A sudden harsh tug snaps you out of your amazement. You jerk your head towards the figure that turned out to be the annoying boy.
“We need to get out of here!” He urges. “This off-limits to—”
You shrug him off, “Just five more minutes! I need to burn this place into my memory!”
“But—!”
You pull out your trump card: the puppy eyes. The boy grimaces, “No.”
“Pleaseeeee! I pinky-swear it'll only be five minutes!” You plead as you raise your right pinky.
He reluctantly caves in, “Fine but if we get caught you take the blame, got it?”
“Deal!”
And thus, the two of you check out the water biome for a few minutes. You watched intently as the water Pokémon play with each other and throw random water moves playfully.
One in particular caught your attention. It was an oddly colored Feebas and it was flailing about in the water along with other Magikarp and fellow Feebas.
“What are you looking at?” The boy inquired. He follows your line of direction and sees the odd Feebas.
He tilts his head, “Huh, that’s a weird looking—”
“I want that one.”
“Huh?”
You walk towards the group of fishes and crouch to observe further. The boy catches up to you, “I don’t think they’ll allow you to have it.”
You turn your head to him, “But that’s my destined partner!”
“Ok I think you’re delusional. We should—”
You pointed towards the Feebas that was now looking at the both of you, “I’m being honest! I had a dream about it too! I was battling against Leon and—”
“Very delusional.”
You gasp, “Hey, that's rude!”
“It’s the truth!” He counters back.
“Bas, bas, feebas…”
You both pipe down and turn to the Pokémon in question. Feebas was jumping eagerly and did a quick circle before approaching the both of you.
It watches you two curiously before swimming to your side and smiles while doing more circles.
The boy's mouth drops in surprise while you smile smugly and proudly say, “See? We were meant to be!”
A deep voice cuts your boasting moment short, “Ah, so this is where you were, Bede. And with the missing young miss as well.”
You both stood up abruptly, “Chairman Rose!?”
“Chairman Rose! You see—”
“It’s my fault sir!” You interrupt the boy named Bede.
Rose turns to you in surprise. He hums and nods for you to continue.
“You see this kid— I mean Bede, tried to warn me to not come but I came here anyway because…” you lower your gaze embarrassed.
“Because…?”
You suck in air and turn to point at the Feebas that was watching the whole scenario unfold, “Because I sensed that my destined partner would be here and I was right sir!”
Rose looks to the direction you're pointing at and sees the Feebas standing by. He chuckles, “So you think that this Feebas is meant to be your partner?”
You shake your head vigorously, “No sir I don’t think, I know that the Feebas is my destined partner!”
Bede watches in horror as you make such a bold yet delusional claim to Chairman Rose.
“Y/n!? There you are, oh my goodness!”
Your parents—still dressed in lab coats—rushed to your side and kneel down to check for any injuries. “Are you alright?! You’re not hurt or anything? Once we get home your Father and I will—”
“Oh so you’re the parents of the little miss, Mr and Mrs L/n?”
Your parents freeze and turn to face their boss. The bow deeply while also forcing you to bow, “We are deeply sorry for any inconveniences our daughter has caused Chairman Rose. We promise to be stricter with her…”
Chairman Rose chuckles deeply, “That's alright. I must say, I'm amazed to see you two have raised such a confident yet chaotic child. I'm very impressed.”
Your parents look at each other briefly, unsure if this was a good or bad thing.
“Sir!” A female voice chimes in. It was the blonde secretary from earlier; She rushes towards Chairman Rose's side, “We have yet to find the missing–” Her gaze falls towards you and Bede, “Children?”
“Ah, Oleana!” He chirps. “I was walking around the sanctuary to see if everything was alright only to see the door unlocked and wide open for anyone to enter and leave.”
Bede looks away embarrassed while you pretend to kick an imaginary rock to some random direction.
“Is that…so?” She says in disbelief.
He chuckles once more, “Looks like we need to upgrade our security.”
Your Father hastily grabs your shoulders, ensuring you wouldn't wander off again, “Thank you so much for finding Y/n, Chairman Rose. We will take our leave immediately.”
You cry out in protest, “But–!”
“No ‘buts’ young lady, you've caused enough trouble for the day!” Your Mother scolded.
Before you could be dragged away, Chairman Rose clears his throat. “I believe little Y/n has yet to pick her Pokémon. It would be a shame to let her leave this establishment without one.”
Your parents look at each other with hesitation and so your Father spoke up first, “That is very generous of you Chairman Rose but we think that–”
“Will you be my partner Feebas?”
Everyone looked back to where you were supposed to be and quickly snapped to the direction of where Feebas was.
Your parents shared the look of horror Bede has, while Oleana is speechless, and Chairman Rose delighted.
“Feebas, bas, fee…”
The Feebas swam in circles happily and then proceeded to jump into your arms. You happily accepted its embrace and began to giggle happily, oblivious to everyone's stare.
“Well, that's settled. Oleana, please find a poké ball for this Feebas.”
“Yes sir.” She answers swiftly and quickly leaves to find a ball.
Rose turns to your horrified parents and smiles, “Your daughter will be an amazing trainer. I can feel it.”
He then turns to Bede, “You two should be friends. She will be a great companion to you.”
Bede takes in his word and looks back to you and Feebas.
Oleana finally returned with a ball and handed it to Rose. He takes the ball and walks over to you and Feebas and kneeled down to your level, hand outstretched with the ball. “Care to do the honors?” He offered.
You and Feebas look back at Rose. You smile and nod eagerly and take the ball right out of his hand.
You offered the ball to Feebas. “Ready to face the wonders of the world together?” You ask eagerly.
Feebas sings happily and so you poked the ball gently to its forehead and like magic, it goes inside effortlessly. The ball wiggles once and you hear a ‘click’ confirming its catch.
The sound of the click was a fulfilling sound you didn't think would be meaningful.
You stood up and tackled Rose into a hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!” You chanted over and over.
He reciprocated the hug and pats your back gently. He gently separates you from him and now looks at you seriously. “However, there is still one thing I ask of you.”
Sensing his seriousness, you prepared for anything he had to ask. “Yes sir.”
Rose looks at you then the pokeball in your hand. He grabs your hand holding the pokeball and uses both hands to cover yours. “Promise me that you will love, care, and cherish Feebas.”
Taken aback slightly by his request, you nod firmly. “I promise Mr. Chairman.” You raised your free hand and stuck out your pinky, “It's a pinky promise!”
Amused by your antics, he chuckles and removes his right hand to link his pinky hand with yours. “Then it's settled. Congratulations on becoming a trainer little Y/n.”
It’s Feebas!
Thank Arceus your parents had a habitable pond at your place. It was the perfect place to let Feebas swim around!
It had been three days since you officially became partners with Feebas. How did you spend time together with a Pokémon that was unfortunately bound by water? Camping outside with it of course!
It's a new experience but surely you'll become accustomed to the outdoors setting, right? After all, many trainers have to sleep out in the wild anyways during their travels so what's the harm in getting to know the outdoors?
Feebas was swimming around the pond, clearly happy with the new environment. Meanwhile, you were clicking through the new Pokédex you were given and stopped at Feebas's evolution line.
The color and design were absolutely breathtaking.
“Feebas! Come and take a look at this!”
Feebas stopped what it was doing and swam to your direction eagerly. Matching its energy you flipped the dex for it to see. “Look! According to this gadget, you're going to evolve into a Milotic!”
You shift between its original colors to its shiny version. “And since you're a shiny Feebas, you'll have different colors! Isn't that cool!”
“Bas, bas, bas!” It chants in agreement.
You sigh dreamily at the idea of how beautiful your Feebas will be. You reach out to caress its gills, “You're gonna be such a pretty boy you know that? And I'll make sure to help you be beautiful and strong!” You fisted your hand to the air, “We shall be champions!”
Feebas rushes around the pond and jumps into the air to match your enthusiasm. You laugh in delight at its eagerness that matches your own.
It comes back to you and you smile softly. You yawn, tired from playing and learning about Feebas all day. Do you regret it? Not at all. If anything, you wish to do this forever.
You lay down onto your sleeping bag near Feebas and look up towards the sky, admiring the stars. You raise one arm into the arm, as if trying to grab a star.
“We will become brighter than the stars one day. A light that no one can ignore.”
Yawning once more, you stretch your limbs to relinquish any more leftover energy. You turn to your side to face Feebas and smile tiredly.
“You know…,” You start, catching its attention. It listens to your words carefully, “I wasn't kidding what I said three days ago. About how you were my destined partner.”
It tilts it head to the side slightly, as if telling you to continue.
“I had a dream that day…” You yawn yet again. “In that dream we…were fighting Leon and…his Charizard. Did…we win? I dunno to…be honest.”
Your eyes began to give up on you. “But…I do…hope that…we…won…”
The crowd at the Wyndon stadium are going wild. The two trainers—one being the champion—are down to their last Pokémon. The intensity of the battle has kept everyone at the edge of their seat. Cheers chanting for the young challenger and champion could be heard throughout.
Both trainers and Pokémon were also energized by the crowd's cheer. The champion was not letting up nor was the young challenger.
“And both Giganta-Max Charizard and Dynamax Milotic revert back to their original form!
You and your Milotic are in perfect sync!”
“Thank you Mr. Leon! Likewise! Battling you is truly an experience to savor…however we will not lose!”
Leon smirks and crosses his arms over his chest, “I love your spirit kid! Reminds me of my brother who is around your age. Anyways I’m afraid I cannot lose either, I must maintain the good image of an older brother!”
You giggle at his statement. “That’s cute and all but we won’t lose here! Right Milotic?”
Milotic looks back at you and gives an enthusiastic nod.
“Hah, very well then! Let’s finish this off with one move! Ready Charizard?”
“Very well then! Let’s do this!”
“Finish this with Fireblast!”
“End it with Hydro Pump!!”
Who won? No one knows, it is a dream after all. And what do you do when you have a dream? You begin the journey to accomplish it!
