happy birthday to me! My grandma got me the second mphfpc book and i am so exited to read it:) here is my amazing Fugh drawing, i like it a lot! Turns out i really love making commission art, so please give me more tasks:)
Rant about Enoch and Emma sibling relationship and Hugh and Fiona acting like Horace's parents!!
Honestly as much as I joke about Emma and Enoch hating each other's guts I really do believe they're siblings. Like, I CANNOT IMAGINE Enoch ever pining after Emma or even hating her. Sure, he hates the actions she does, and Emma hates his self-sabotaging nature, but they always will be siblings. That's Emma's baby brother!! Same goes for Enoch and Jacob. They don't like the other, but they will not hesitate to lay down their life to make sure they're safe, as much as they both despise that fact.
I literally can't ever imagine Enoch and Emma as anything other than platonic. They're such siblings in the books and movie!!
Also, I wish Ransom Riggs went more in depth with Fiona and Hugh as a couple and how that affects their bond with the other children! Also, is it just me that imagines Fugh being absolute parents to the younger kids? Specifically Horace.
Like, imagine Fiona being very happy because Horace made her and Hugh matching clothes for when they go out on dates!! Or her and Hugh being in charge of Horace's birthday parties! Or Fiona guiding Enoch on what flowers Horace adores for when they do date nights!!
Urghhhh I love Fughhh!!
And when Fiona and Hugh have a daughter Horace will be the Godfather!! IMAGINE HORACE DRESSING UP BEEFLOWER'S DAUGHTER IN THE MOST GORGEOUS AND SOFTEST SILK DRESSES!! URGHHHH!!!
(@sincerely-sammi I think you'd like this (pls dont execute me)!!)
hii saturn, hru? so sorry i saw your post 2 hrs late ♡
okay so before we starting talking, i actually never considered the potential for angst for fugh post-tcotb - but now it's all i think about, lol! especially as of recently. it's just so good i cannot express it 😭 😭
with that said, i was wondering if you had any headcanons / thoughts regarding the very sour side of their relationship ... 👀
Hi Sammi thank you for the ask!!🫶🫶🫶 And yes yes yes I have lots of thoughts!! Under the cut :D
All of the major issues I think Fiona & Hugh have (ESPECIALLY after Conference of the Birds) center around a lack of communication
They don’t need to communicate, they just Know. They’re each others person & have been for over a century so sure they do talk about emotions sometimes but what it comes down to is that they don’t have to.
(I also think they’re both at their core very closed off people that and the idea of being vulnerable is (for different reasons) super horrifying for them because it’s giving up Protection but I could go on a whole tangent there so I’ll leave it at that)(for now🤭)
Anyways, they both have a person they Know as well as themselves and then suddenly, post Conference of the Birds, they don’t Know that person anymore.
Hugh is angrier and gets into a shouting match with Millard, Fiona is super closed off and she’s not spending a lot of time outside or in the garden. Hugh says “hey…. so do you want to Talk about what happened” and she’s like “It was hard but I’m Just Happy I’m Here Now🙂” and Fiona asks “why are you angry with Millard?” and he’s like “haha I don’t know what you mean😀” and the conversation goes nowhere.
Also because they’re both Like That about vulnerability it’s very easy to flip the questions onto the other person, make them defensive, and get out of having to answer.
ALSO with the new loop not only are they living with a new, slightly off version of the person they love more than anything, it’s paired with a new, slightly off version of their home so it’s disconcerting on top of disconcerting.
Now the obvious solution here is: talk to each other dumbasses!!! but they’re stuck between not knowing how to anymore & not wanting to face that vulnerability. Before everything changed it wouldn’t have been such a problem but now it’s being vulnerable with someone they don’t fully know anymore. That’s scary and so they don’t talk.
This version of events leaves a growing distance between Fiona & Hugh but another idea I’ve been thinking on is instead of them dancing around each other, they become super obsessive over each other. Of course that obsessiveness is already planted by having One Person you can Always Count On for centuries but once they’re back with each other it gets worse
They’re angry but crazy in love and won’t leave each other alone so one day they have a screaming match, the next they’re planning out how they’ll live together forever and ever. They start missing dinners to be with each other in a way reminiscent of when they first came to the loop and it’s starting to freak out the others that suddenly fugh is so capital s Strange about each other.
So those are my thoughts! Feel free to let me know what y’all think in the comments or tags :)
