My bet on the whole bees thing is that they are going to do a call based on this news story from earlier this year.

This came out in like April 2024 so the timing could match up with writing, and I think it's likely the bees are either based on a real life event or an old film (like swarm, which other people have suggested)

I think they could play into the thinking it's a body thing, and make it quite creepy.
