Beetee Headcanon

His next child (son or daughter, I haven't decided) was Reaped during the 65th Games, at fourteen rather than twelve, bc Snow just loved the idea of letting him think his kid was safe for two years before ruining his life again. Said kid had to go into the arena with none other than Finnick Odair, another 14y/o with similarly great prospects.

Finnick won that year. Beetee, at first, wanted to hate him. After all, Finnick is the direct reason his kid didn't survive (compared to Haymitch who tried his best to save Ampert) but it doesn't take long for the guilt to win him over. He watches Finnick navigate the trafficking, the secrets, the Mentoring, and everything in between and, just a year after Finnick officially 'goes on the market' enlists him to get secrets/leverage from his Capitolite patrons.

Beetee can never look at Finnick without seeing ghosts of his dead child but, at the same time, has a deeply protective side to him bc of how much Finnick reminds him of [kid's name].

Also, bc we love pain, Beetee's wife killed herself after this kid.

Happy to elaborate but let's just say the headcanons are headcanoning.

ㅤdo they crave touch or fear it ? Wiress, Beetee, or any other OCs from 3

when was the last time they cried and about what ? ㅤAnyone from 10 of your choice!

Wiress (49th Games) definitely craves platonic touch but, man, she gets overwhelmed fast by anything she deems more than that. I've still not decided if I ship her and Beetee (don't come for me; I have a love-hate relationship with that man rn!) but I think he's still the one she finds easiest to touch and be touched by. Beetee (34th Games), however, only every really touches Wiress when he knows she needs it. He's not very big on physical affection. Like, ever. Not with his own wife, his kids, the family lab rats (I fully believe that man rescues lab rats from work and keeps them in secret, idk). He's very stoic, pragmatic, and unemotional...mostly. And Buzz (38th Games) is the complete opposite of his Mentor (Beetee). He's never creepy about it but he loves touch. That's why he gets along so well w/ Mags and Chaff, bc they neither mind his proclivity for touch and reciprocate it. And, again, it's not creepy touch. It's handshakes, sandwhiching in on a couch instead of finding a new seat, shoulder squeezes (like the encouraging ones, idk movies have them all the time), etc.

Lennox (66th Games) last cried when his name was called for the 3rd Quarter Quell and no one volunteered. He felt horrible about it but he genuinely thought one of the uber old Victors like Roman would've volunteered but, at the same time, he's so grateful they didn't. So he cries bc he's so conflicted, so frustrated, so helpless, and so hopeless.

Beetee being as judgmental as a Capitolite when it comes to Cashmere's image is absolutely canon in my mind. An excerpt, if you will:

“You’ve got me there. I don’t enjoy her proclivities.” I let my brow raise, daring him to accuse me of the things the Capitol sees in me. The promiscuity, the loose morals, the willingness to please. “We need tighter lips than what she can offer. I’m sure you understand exactly what I mean.” I dig my nails into my palms, bile rising in my throat. That was a dig. He thinks just how the Capitol does. Buys into this image Haymitch and I have curated without question. He thinks we’re lovers with some sort of taboo relationship open to whoever wants to partake. The hand on my back gets tighter as if Haymitch can sense my disgust even though my face has not changed.

“Only loose lips here are yours. Gettin’ kids killed each and every year ‘cause you don’t ever have a plan before you waste their lives. Fuck you, Beetee Latier.” He takes his hand off my waste to grab my hand. I know he wants to pull me away but he stands, glares. “Alright, we’re done talkin’ now. You can scurry back to your hypocrites and sycophants now.”

“I’m shocked you know that word, Haymitch.”

“I learned it from you,” he bites back just as quickly as the insult was spewed.
