Classical Piece of the Day - day 6
Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major (6 for 6!)
I'm currently studying this piece in my A level music. Although it isn't programmatic music, it's one of the first pieces of classical music that has some kind of meaning attributed to it.
Known as the Pastoral symphony, each of its five movements has a name, and the symphony outlines a kind of story or scenario.
M1: Awakening of cheerful feelings on arrival in the countryside M2: Scene by the brook M3: Merry gathering of country folk M4: Thunder, Storm M5: Shepherd's song. Cheerful and thankful feelings after the storm
