BEFORAN ANCESTORS THEORY

(if you havent heard the news, hussie released 6/12 beforan ancestor designs on the homestuck discord!)

Based on the well-known fact: Dancestors are a poor-taste criticism of fandom behavior. Further explination below cut.

Theory: These designs are a good-taste criticism of the same things!

Aradia: fujoshis/shipping

Nepeta: intrusive journalism/parasocial/shipping #2

Kanaya: theorists (+that end up being correct?)

Vriska: hurt/comfort trope + Fix-its that ignore character/plot development perhaps

Equius: tumblr sexyman (and it worked. ppl love him)?

Feferi: hypocritical savior complexes?

Only elaborating for the ones I think I need to:

Kanaya: Shapes bushes into shapes that foreshadow events in a parallel universe. "Nobody has any idea what she's doing with these bushes, but thinks she's cooking anyway," (Hussie).

Vriska: Tries hard to heal her patients, but ultimately fails. It is hurt/comfort in nature that ends with...no comfort. Feels like a criticism of ppl that wish things happened Their Way when their way ignores a lot of important plot/character development.

Equius: he's hot and mysterious. Not much other info about him, yet people thirst anyway.

Feferi: Beforus isn't alternia bad, but bad in its own way. Feferi believes she and her ancestors must "take great responsibility for" the harm and concern for "her lessers," all while being oblivious to the harm she's actually causing them (Hussie). Much like how she's oblivious to the harm she's causing the poor trolls that get trapped in her hair.

Some of these I'm not super confident on/feel like there's more to that I'm missing. Would love to hear your thoughts! Will update when the next 6 trolls come out also and see if this still holds up :)
