I am starting to put strips of blocks together for the Midnight Feast quilt! The stars are emerging + picture of the back because people are curious sometimes about what that looks like
This is English Paper Pieced (EPP) which means that all of the shapes are pieces of fabric wrapped around pieces of cardstock cut to shape. You take the pieces out once they are sewn in by hand on all sides (12-20 stitches per inch.) I've taken out all of the pieces I can because it gets heavy and unwieldy the bigger it is.
I'm doing this instead of machine piecing because:
A. I hate my wrists and I want their tunnels carpaled
B. sewing machine loud hand sewing quiet
C. The pieces are small and I can take parts of it with me
D. No bias edge shenanigans because it's stabilized by the paper
E. It looked like a challenge
F. Less ironing because the pieces are basically pressed open by default
G. Y seams are easy by hand and the points can be really precise (if you do it right)
