The Apprentice Tarot was created by @magicianmew on Tumblr and Instagram who currently resides in Richmond, VA. Their goal was to create a deck that is beginner friendly, and does not require a bulky guidebook. The deck itself is traditional in nature, broken up into the Major and Minor Arcana, totaling 78 cards. Each illustration includes the overall theme, element, and upright and reversal meanings. This makes it extremely versatile as a divination tool, giving you the ease to work with it directly instead of flipping through a book for more information. Everything you need is laid out neatly, and the deck itself is colorful and full of artistic personality! Personally I have used this deck in my shop readings and have found it to be extremely helpful and insightful. This is a limited pre-print run of the deck, before the artist does a full run and Kickstarter! I only have 6 decks available, making this edition quite nearly one of a kind.
Hi I was wondering where to get tarot card decks and what is good for a beginner witch?
Hey! For a beginner witch, the most popular deck that would be easiest to learn considering the amount of resources written on it would be the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. Its pretty cheap and would be a simple deck that most people are familiar with. You can buy it on amazon here.
However, when I was starting tarot, I did not feel a connection to Rider Waite and didn’t want that deck. Instead I got one that felt more connected to my practice and path. That was the Wildwood Tarot Deck. Its a tad more expensive than Rider Waite but I am a fan of the deck and it’s art. You can buy it on amazon here.
One thing I’d like to say is that if neither of these decks look/feel right to you, don’t buy them. Wait until you find a deck you have a connection to. You can search through google or amazon, or look at local bookstores or occult shops. Everyone is different and its only natural we have different preferences when it comes to tarot.
