just bought my first tarot deck

probably a bad idea getting it without fully knowing what im doing cuz im practically entirely new to this

so i'd love any info/tips or whatever i can get on how this works and how to get to know my deck etc

so! everyone knows there's the whole buy your first tarot/be gifted your first tarot debate, but I actually DIYed my first tarot deck, and I wanted to share some pictures!

My First Tarot Deck

I have been fascinated by divination since I can remember. However, having my parents become devoted Christians during my late childhood meant that I had to hide the side of me intrigued by myths, magick and alternative spirituality. I've wanted a tarot deck for about 2 years now, ever since I've realised that witchcraft and paganism is the path for me - and I finally got it!

Now, it is the standard Rider-Waite Smith, but what better deck to study with than this one? Ive been having so much fun these past few days just looking though the cards, shuffling them and seeing what comes up.

Although I'm not the biggest fan of the artwork, I appreciate the overall imagery in this deck and was surprised to find out how easy it is for me to use intuitively. I'll admit though, the little white book is not my favourite, and I am still looking for a good, indepth online reference to the meanings behind each card.

Im super excited to use this deck as a learning tool, both to be able to further connect with my intuitive side, as well as my higher self and the deities I work with.

I hope to get some more decks in the near future, as I am moving away to university in September. For now though, I will work on getting the basics down so that I can read using this baby with ease.

It's never too early for your First Tarot Deck!

She was so excited to have her own "magic cards" like me and her mommy. She thought at first she couldn't "do" them because she can't read. But after I told her you read them with your heart, and if you listen to the pictures they tell you the story....She proceeded with glee to pull the Ace of Wands three times. My little witch💗

A little late but my very first tarot spread ever! Not....what i’d hoped for in terms of positivity, but pretty accurate for what i asked for, being a simple past, present, future spread.

(Later, after more shuffling and handling i asked specifically what my deck thought of me and that was incredibly more positive, but i didn’t take a picture)

For anyone with advice for learning tarot, i would love to hear from you but I’m already so enchanted with my deck and it couldn’t have come at a better time in terms of lifting my mood. Looking forward to a future of successfully using it as a tool in my practice and my own personal journey!
