Velvet Crowbar
“ Life is a velvet crowbar Hitting you over the head You're bleeding but you want more "This is so like you," I said”
By saying "Life is a velvet crowbar", it was meant to convey that although life looks beautiful and soft on the outside, there is a hard crowbar inside and this crowbar destroys us every time. In the song, we hear about a man with dreams about music in general, and how he was dragged to death due to alcohol addiction. This man is none other than his girlfriend who died years ago, for which Lana wrote all her songs.
Although it’s my fav song of all time even before “cola” . Every word hits you so hard. Truly masterpiece<3 finally,
“You wanna touch life so hard Why can't you give it a rest? You're not that bright for a star Burned yourself out nothing left”
Sweater, the song that started it all and the title of the EP 💿 This song will always stay with me and has surprised me with how much others seem to resonate with the meaning behind it, finding it relatable to them for one reason or another. For this reason I'm hesitate to share it's true meaning but I'll give you a glimpse behind my mindset while writing it. We all meet people in our lives that change us, for better or for worse, but I believe there's something to take away from every interaction with another. This song displays the internal struggle between wanting something more from someone else but with the acknowledgment that sometimes that's not always how life pans out. Sometimes we simply need to enjoy another's presence in the moment, without the worry of what's to come. Because in the end what defines us isn't another human being. We will always dictate our own paths and happiness, and if we meet others along the way that's simply an added bonus. But we can't always be reliant on another. We must learn to find our own source of light and then appreciate what others can add to that. . #sweater #sweaterep #sweateralbum #behindthelyrics #bts #music #musician #poem #poets #poet #lyrics #song #musiciansofinsta #nature #ghost #linkinbio #naturephotography #ukulele #ukelover #ginger #redhead #singer #songs #songwriting #songwriter #poemsofinsta #redhair #woodland #forest #spokenword https://www.instagram.com/p/By_cbRnF9JU/?igshid=1lxd8gvtdc65w
Carmen-2012
The song(Carmen) is about Lolita. "Carmen is one of Humbert Humbert's favourite nicknames for Lo. "Telling them she's having fun" is actually "telling Hum she's having fun" because Hum(Humbert) is Lolita's stepfather and lover. And the song Hum sings to Lolita goes "Oh my Carmen, my little Carmen..." Born to die has a so many Lolita references. The songs "This is what makes us girls" , "Cola" and " Gods and monsters" all allude to the innocence possessed by a young girl. Lana also refers to Lolita in "Off to the races". "Light of my life, fire of my loins" is used in the song's hook and the song opens with "my old man is a bad man". Lana also has a song titled "Lolita" which revolves around youth and male attraction.
🎶 Music fact: Doechii’s hit “Anxiety” was inspired by her own struggles with mental health. The lyrics reflect the intrusive, overwhelming nature of anxious thoughts. She even launched a mental health hub called Anxiety Is Watching Me to support others going through it. 🖤
Today's the day!
What's the story behind this song?
"I'm My Favorite Person" is really about learning to love yourself. Every time we face rejection, this can get a little harder - that's why it's important to anchor yourself. Know the qualities you appreciate in others and see those qualities in yourself. I wrote about my own qualities - reliability and thoughtfulness- and how I am the kind of the friend I want to be to others, and the kind of friend I'd like to meet. 😁
This song also draws a bit from my experience as a nonamorous person (although you don't need to be to relate to it). Nonamory means "not looking for a partner". I'm not seeking out a significant other, or a "favorite person". I am it. I am the one that will always be there, so I'd better learn to enjoy my own company and my own self!
It's a celebration song. So celebrate yourself, and sing along! Feel free to change the words to fit whatever YOU imagine. In the coming days, I'll release an instrumental version so you can make your own if you'd like! Enjoy!
Out of the Mist was originally meant to be a temporary title for the song, almost a joke: it was given by Luna with the foggy Pianura Padana in mind. Banshee then decided she wanted to write lyrics for that song keeping the title, but with a different meaning: the mist as the uncertainty from which we try to emerge in life. The lyrics were written as a form of revenge on ourselves, going through fire and shame to find a better self and a renewed sense of freedom from the past. Banshee loves quoting books she loves, hence the parts “Unbound, unbent” referred to House Martell of Game of Thrones and “Out of the mist I wander, lost no more” as a tribute to the famous Tolkien quote “Not all those who wander are lost”. ~ #wickedasylum #outofthemist #behindthelyrics #instamusic #trivia #triviaoftheday #lyrics #metallyrics (presso Como, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAfqtj5gJ1u/?igshid=6y1wwjpxtkm7
