So I have been craving Oreo Ice cream for some time now. I went into Tesco express to look for some, no luck. I saw that they had the cans of KA, 3 for £1 I'm like yes, great deal! Feeling a bit sad but satisfied that I found the deal on the drinks, I go to the cashier pay and place the drinks under the pushchair. Then I asked for the receipt. I leave the store and see a Nisa Local and head there to try my luck. I go in wandering around trying to find the ice cream.
Yes! I'm in luck...! £3 is it worth it tho?? Ehhhhhhhhh. I put it back. Then I remember, I love cereal, and my sis rarely buys them. So I check the ones they have. Ya girl ain't got money to spend on it, so nahhh. So I leave. I'm about 2 feet away from outside the store when one of the shopkeepers call me back. He says something, I go closer to hear what he says.
He asks, "did you take those drinks from here?"
Confused, I'm like "....no?"
"So, if I check the security cameras I won't see you taking them?"
"Listen mate, I ain't got time to steal."
He asks about a receipt just as I'm pulling it out to show him. He says okay (I think) and heads back inside. I walk away slowly processing everything that happened and how wrong it could gone if I didn't ask for the receipt.
Just saying "Thank God" repeatedly. And honestly I just have to thank him and remind myself this is why I pray in the morning. Putting our lives and the day in the hands of the Lord so He protects us from situations like that from getting worse.
Because I'm tired of seeing another black person getting discriminated on, beaten up and being killed by the police.
And I'm not saying if you pray things like that won't happen, because bad things still happen to good people. This is just my experience.
