Découverte de ce peintre de Beyrouth. #Repost @rebeccaanneproctor These stunning paintings are by #Lebanese artist @abedalkadiri #abedalkadiri and they are part of ‘Remains of the Last Rose’ an exhibition that opened just a few days prior to the #beirutexplosions and was scheduled to run until 25 September at @galerietanit the series of “black paintings” entitled ‘Nyctophilia’ were created as #Lebanon descended increasingly into a state of darkness, both literally and figuratively. Dwindling fuel, silenced generators, an economy in free fall, and the streets all but abandoned as a former site of revolt—why exhibit darkness in such dire times? The paintings summon reflection while the faint bits of color cling to the blackness—here Abed shows that black is never entirely black. The gallery is no more and Abed has managed to save a few works from an exhibition that brought people together once again in the name of art #gallerytanit #middleeasternart https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch4mVywoIuR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
