I took these pictures at Beit El, the place where Yakov had his dream this parsha about the ladder and the angels. I know some say it was on Har Moriah and you’re not wrong but you’re not right either. Its a machlokes amongst the Reshonim.

While here, I saw a Jacob’s Ladder in the sky and absolutly had to take some photos of it over the place where Jacobbs first ladder was raised. Hashem so did it on purpose!

The stuff on that tree are support beams to keep the tree from falling over because that tree is pretty darn old and special. And they made a little ladder for fun. I love living in Isreal when this is what my tax sheckles go towards.

The project has upset both Palestinians and settlers, who have joined together to stop construction.

Palestinians from Ramun and Jewish settlers from Beit El have joined together to fight the Palestinian Authority as it attempts to establish a new landfill site.  The site is near Ramallah and meant to serve the 320,000 residents of Ramallah with a dedicated waste disposal site.  Currently, 78 privately-owned and not well managed or environmentally responsible sites handle the estimated 300 tons a day of trash that Ramallah generates.

The complaints from Palestinians stem from the fact that the Palestinian Authority only owns half the land it wishes to make the landfill on.  The Israeli environmental groups Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and Green Now have protested the establishment of the landfill, as they are concerned that the site borders a nature preserve.  Settlers are complaining that they are excluded from the new landfill site and they are also upset at the presence of Palestinian Authority soldiers in Area C; an area that is supposed to be under Israeli military control.

So somehow and in a remarkable fashion that it seems only the Palestinian Authority is capable of doing, the PA somehow managed to piss of everyone everyone at once.  This is not to say that there shouldn’t be a new landfill site - there absolutely needs to be - but the way the PA went about it was absolutely wrong.
