hey fellow theater professional thanks for all the ER posts I'm so far down the Pitt/er rabbit hole its not even funny. and thanks for showing my all time fave songwriter some love for his cover of mr rabbit

the way both the pitt and ER have had a chokehold on SO many folks in my personal and professional circles continues to blow my mind but i am delighted we are all going here together peace and love on planet medical procedural drama for real (and literally i don’t know what paul westerberg put in that cover of mr. rabbit but it absolutely does things to my brain, things that have absolutely cemented it as The Jack Abbot Song to me) 🫡

7 & 17 for the book ask!

7 - is there a series/book that got you into reading?

If there was, I can’t remember. I started reading at age 4 and it’s been one of my favorite things ever since.

17 - top 5 children’s books?

That’s so tough. I love a lot of children’s books, and also what age group? Young children? Middle-grade readers? Older kids? I guess I’ll do a mix of both. Three of my favorite books from when I was a kid are When the Sky is Like Lace by Elinor Lander Horwitz (illustrated by Barbara Cooney), Really Rosie by Maurice Sendak, and The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Two kids’ books I’ve discovered and loved since having kids of my own are Squeak, Rumble, Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! by Wynton Marsalis (illustrated by Paul Rogers), and Beyond the Pond by Joseph Kuefler.

2. what was the last book you rated 5/5? 

The Unfinished World and Other Stories, by Amber Sparks

I’ve read two of her books now and I love them both. I highly recommend them if you enjoy short stories by writers such as Kelly Link, Aimee Bender, Carmen Maria Machado, et. al.

13. favorite perfume/cologne?

My favorite right now is The Illustrated Woman from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Carnival Diabolique collection: skin musk, smoky vanilla, pine pitch, patchouli, Indian resins, golden honey, and tobacco.

46. favorite liquor?

Whiskey, particularly of the rye, bourbon, or Irish varieties. I drink bourbon more often, but good Irish whiskey is my true love.

Oh, there are so many, but the one that immediately pops into my head is Tom Waits’ “Time.” I mean:

30. places that you find sacred?

Oh, so many. That spot beneath the el tracks between Belmont and Addison in Chicago. All of Highway 32 in southeastern Wisconsin, particularly the stretch between Racine and Kenosha. The kitchen in my best friend’s apartment. South Shore Park in Milwaukee. Bridges over rivers in so many different cities and towns. Train yards and train stations. This one rural county road in southwest Michigan. The Irish Memorial at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. New Orleans. New York City. Denver. London. Montreal. The old cemeteries inside Peninsula State Park in Door County, WI. Most of Door County, really. The Black Hills of South Dakota. The Mojave Desert/Joshua Tree. Jack Kerouac Alley in San Francisco. Etc., etc., etc.

44. favorite scent for soap?

Anything with cedar in it. Earlier this year I was using a lavender cedar soap which I loved, now I’m using a saffron cedar one which I love just as much.

52. favorite font?

I love typewriter-inspired fonts, especially Tox Typewriter. For regular serif fonts, I’m fond of Book Antiqua.

Nice! Thanks! I went thru Levy's history on vacation in like three days I was pretty hooked lol
