Lil boi Bellhead and Dad Sirenhead, so proud of his kiddo!
In all this brouhaha about Warner Brothers and HBO Max, you have to remember who owns them.
AT&T you think? Nah, that’s just a mask.
AT&T and Warner Brothers are owned by Southwestern Bell Corporation (SBC for short). It’s an old fashion Texas telephone company that doesn’t really value its employee, nor creativity.
In 1997 it bought Pacific Telesis (the phone company in California) and quickly snuff out any creative endeavor in development. SBC was very old school (like a father only they knew best).
It bought up more former Bell companies including Bell South and Ameritech, ruling its phone company empire from Texas.
The company was so ass-backwards that it required employees to get a vice-president for permission to telecommute (a concept they sold to customers).
By 2005, the original AT&T was a shadow of its former self. BUT it was the only phone company that had name recognition. (Whoever heard of SBC outside of Texas). So SBC bought AT&T and renamed itself AT&T.
To pay for all this acquisitions, SBC laid off or outsourced tens of thousands of employees in the United States.
AT&T’s current CEO is John Stankey - a long time Bell-Head with no Hollywood experience.
When AT&T bought Warner, inexplicable he was made CEO of WarnerMedia.
AT&T/Warner is trying to squeeze out every penny from its properties - Hollywood Creative type be damned.
So AT&T/SBC doesn’t care what Christopher Nolan, Denzel Washington, James Wan, and other think.
