Who in the fandom would like to hear the thrilling tale of how I came to organize 2022′s Secret Santa so very late in our holiday season?

...Life is chaotic and I forgot 😬

But I’m back and I’ve fixed things! If you wander on over to our timeline you’ll note a slight shift, mainly just condensing the sign up/assignment periods. Sign ups will now run through the 15th and I’ll work some black magic to ensure you have your assignments by midnight on the 16th. That leaves everyone with the same amount of time to work, with presents due December 23rd! Huzzah!

Secret Santa gift for @belligerentbagel! (Sorry it’s so late, I had a busy day!) 

The prompt was “And she finally flew” and they specified they were interested in Razo and Ibis. I really like the potential of background stories with these two! 

Just a little blurb to go with the moodboard....

Stars and darkness

Iron fists wrapped around planet after planet

Screams, death

And pools of blue life

Razo thinks she is lucky to be a Splice

She fights and flies

But there are guns and bounties and weight

The stars have no end

Maybe their struggles don’t either

Razo is tired

And then light

A door

A promise that all the weight could be lifted

The Abrasax aren’t to be trifled with

You don’t accept their jobs if you have a choice

But there is the temptation of a new life

Razo thinks it may be worth it

Ibis is unsure

Cautious and careful, he hesitates

Razo never has

He trusts her

They’re a team Splices together

They accept

Gunfights and swarming bees and betrayal

Even still there is success

Death

Hope

Life

Regen X

They take it

Stars and nebulas

Free skies and no more bounties

Ibis smiles

Razo runs her fingers over the precious viles

Takes Ibis’ hand

Takes the controls

And then she flies away

AAA thank you for indulging me! I’ll put it under a cut:

Melt is a Warforged Battle Caster Warlock currently at level 5. They stand 5′ 8″ tall, have green glowing optics (that can change color depending on their mood), and have silver metal plating. Their alignment stands at True Neutral but tends to lean towards chaotic as they observe and adapt to their party members and the world around them.

Melt was not always fully sentient; they remember being activated, told that the war they were built for was over, and that they and their like were to be sold and used for labor and service. Melt (at that point, known only by their unit name) was sold to a noble as a general laborer.

The noble, however, had more grandiose plans in mind. Melt and other warforged and hired organic workers were building, unbeknownst to them of course, a massive ritual to summon a powerful demon. This, as you may guess, did not go according to plan.

Everything and everyone burned. Melt’s metal plating was dripping and warping as their wooden ligaments charred. The ceremony had attracted not a demon, but the attention of an Elder God, one of the Great Olde Ones. There are consequences for disrupting such a powerful entity.

The ritual was not yet complete, the mansion falling apart around them. Perhaps it was their basic survival programming or maybe their first act of free will. Either way, Melt completed the ritual and gained both a contract of power and a true sense of self.

Their appearance remains warped and disheveled. Any new additions or repairs immediately mold into the melted form when they made the contract. Melt can also only communicate telepathically (it’s a Warlock inherent power), as their voice module was severely damaged and, due to this curse of form, cannot be repaired. They cast spells using the clunking, clattering, ticking and tocking of their inner workings (so they are still susceptible to the Silence spell).

As they journey with an eccentric tiefling fire wizard, a smug gnome assasin and his devoted gnome fighter follower, a drunken yet friendly human fighter, a fame-obsessed tiefling bard, and an awkward ex-noble human wizard, Melt hopes to gain a greater understanding of the contract they were forced into and their ultimate place in this world.

They were briefly evil and blood thirsty after an upgrade gone wrong, but they got better.

There’s a whooole lot more I could say about what they’ve been up to (like starting off as an apprentice to a mysterious elf, ....sandwiches...., cults, and now time loops), so if you’re curious, just let me know! You should def tell me about your character if you’re playing too!

11. anything from your childhood you’ve held on to?

I have my grandfather's keyboard! I inherited it from him when I was around 10 and it's stayed with me through the years.

Also a sense of wonder about the universe.

27. what’s your favorite or go-to outfit?

Masc go-to is a long-sleeve button-down (usually with a pattern) either cuffed jeans or wool trousers, and a black leather Chelsea boot. Sometimes I'll throw in a floral tie or rainbow suspenders. Oh, and my trans flag chain mail bracelet. If it's cold out I'll layer with my fancy long coat.

Femme go-to is either a black or floral dress with tights or leggings and some light makeup (eyeliner, eyeshadow, and maybe a little bit of lip gloss). Sometimes with my denim jacket with enamel pins for extra gender.

29. preferred pasta noodle?

Funny you should ask, I just made a short rib ragu last weekend with pappardelle. I do love a good flat egg noodle for sauces like this. I think it kind of depends on the sauce, really! For regular tomato sauce it's hard to beat the simplicity of spaghetti, but for a thicker, meatier sauce, pappardelle is really good.

🎬 Favorite Movie: This one’s tough! Favorite movie *this year* is Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity, by a big distance. Comfort movies include Empire Records, Tenkuu no Shiro no Laputa/Castle in the Sky, and Muppet Christmas Carol. Favorite horror movie isn’t a movie, it’s the Critical Role one-shot “Shadows of the Crystal Palace.” 

📚 A book I am currently reading: I just finished Iron Widow, which is both as good and as triggery as everybody says it is. I’m rereading a fanlation of Guardian ( 镇魂, “Town Spirit”), and it’s time for a reread of Lois McMaster Bujold’s “Miles in Love,” too. I don’t tend to read a whole lot of new stuff in the darker months, I go hard on the stuff I already know cover to cover until I’m through Nutcracker Hell at least.

🕒 Time I go to bed: I have a circadian rhythm phase delay, the real deal, so for years I could not sleep before four AM. I got on Synthroid and abruptly that dropped to two AM, which is about when I try to get to bed these days, though if I’m busy it might be more like three AM. Lifechanging, those extra two hours toward normal human schedules.
