Bell lets talk day gives me a bad vibe. idk if its the activism based on a multi billion dollar corporation or if its the fact that the people who post about it were the ones who bullied me for having anxiety and depression. Probably both. Or maybe it's that they want to "end the stigma" by having a once a year day?? Where people just repost a photo to their snap and insta and call it a day. Sure bell has donated a lot of money but they're a multi BILLION dollar monopoly. They could donate it on their will. The people who post about it the most and caption it "I'm here if anyone needs to talk" are the people who tore me down for being different and needing time to process challenges in life. As a mentally ill canadian, bell lets talk day is my least favourite day of the year. Its just the day where all of those who haven't experienced mental illness to pat themselves on the back cause they posted a photo to their snapchat, a day where I have to see those who bullied and mocked me congratulate themselves.
It’s #bellletstalk day. Most of my favourite authors died by suicide or were depressed, and most people I know including myself struggle with anxiety and/or depression. I have this quote tattooed to my ribs. #bellletstalk #bellletstalkday (at Algonquin College) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtQm2bmhuPX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1e6xhd5adoovj
Not just today, but everyday. If you need to chat, open up, or be vulnerable I pledge to listen without judgement. #bellletstalk #bellletstalkday #bellletstalk💙 https://www.instagram.com/p/BtRD8wlgdi1DR9hTfJWz0TE6Ph2AXQCm74Ba280/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=eq88sq8weznh
#BellLetsTalk day is a very important day in my life, and for the past 2 years I have made sure to make a post telling all of you the importance of talking about mental health. The only problematic thing about this day, is it is one day of the year and the conversations we have need to happen year-round. Hypocritically, I have spoken about educating yourself and others about the important of mental health, and being open with others about what your going through, and I haven’t done so myself. If you’re close with me, you’ll know that I struggle with anxiety. I keep going back and forth deciding if I want to state this for everyone to read, so if you see this I guess I got the courage to do so. I don’t want to be stigmatized or “labelled” for this, because regardless I push through every day. Some days are better than others. Some days I am not even bothered by the overthinking, some days it is so overpowering that I spiral into an unnecessary funk. Recently I have also struggled with body image issues, and an extreme lack of motivation and drive for what I am working towards in my life. I am usually a very enthusiastic, goofy and driven person so not feeling like that, has been extremely hard to accept. I am not telling you all of this for you to feel bad for me or anything, by any means. My point here is that I only post the highlights of my life, much like everyone else. My aim here is to let you know that none of you are alone. Some of know what I have said above, some of you that is news to you. As I have said before, everyone has their own battles and you can’t tell from “judging” them on the outside. Please be kind to others, show love and care. Reach out. Eliminate your judgement. Take care of yourself. Breathe. Keep going. Push yourself. You can do this. You are not alone. Never ever forget to “Stay Strong (because) You Are A Warr;or.” Much love to you all. 💖Thank you to all of those who help keep me strong, you do not go unnoticed ❤️💙 #BellLetsTalkDay #BellLetsTalkDay2019 #StayStrong #semicolontattoo #semicolonproject #youdoyou #arrow #mareathonermerch https://www.instagram.com/p/BtRdrR3nXBDePdwAnFv3e_LAhg4wRKrGO1AasQ0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pmo19s25a5zx

In honour of #bellletstalk day we must reflect on mental illness after trauma. Many survivors of abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking will develop depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, C-PTSD, and many more. This does not make you weak, it does not make you unlovable, and it does not make you unworthy of healing. It’s okay, to ask for help. It’s okay if some days you feel like you are fine, and then the next day you fall apart all over again. It is apart of the journey to healing. It may get messy, your going to have to reflect on things you’d rather forget, but the outcome is worth it. You are worth it.
