Dougie being injured is causing almost all the problems in Jack's life currently, it was messing with his hockey, it was utterly decimating his sex life, and, as was currently his issue, with Dougie unable to extend his arm properly, it made the out of reach items in their apartment actually out of reach.

Sighing with such world-weariness that you'd think no one else in human history had ever suffered so much, Jack goes to the dining room and gets a chair, having realized that the yellow Gatorade was on the top shelf of the pantry.

He's not short, he isn't, but the apartment has high ceilings and thus high shelves, clearly installed with freaks like Dougie and Kevin in mind and no consideration for completely normal sized guys like Jack.

He's still standing on the chair, moving all the remaining items on the top shelf down to one of the shelves that a regular human sized person can reach, when Dougie walks in; he comes over next to Jack's chair and looks up at him, smiling just a little meanly at Jack's solution to his height problem.

Jack smiles back and says "So this is what it's like to be the tall one," and, for once, leans down to kiss the laughter out of Dougie's mouth before quickly deciding that he prefers it the normal way and jumping down from the chair, hardly breaking the kiss in the process.
