I know people say Elena leaving was the reason why the vampire diaries went downhill do you agree or disagree with that what's your opinion ?
If anything, I will say the last two seasons suffered from the plot not letting Elena go and giving too much focus on her coffin situation. Nina had left for a reason, allow Elena to not be so focused on the character's motives. Why is Damon worried about disappointing Elena? She's in a coffin, sleep, let her be lmao. Why does Bonnie have to constantly live in regret in some moments that she's still alive? They could've created some really nice core four moments between Steroline/Bamon honestly. Let the Salvatore's grow without Elena. Let Baroline exist and flourish. Give us the friendship moments! Make Bamon canon maybe? Belvafore couldāve outsold. Edit: Kai couldāve stayed on, taking him out in s6 was a total waste. Iām sorry keeping Enzoā¦ no lol.
I personally don't think Nina leaving is the reason for the show going downhill the way that it did. The show suffered from the writer's playing favoritism and creating certain plotlines that were so heavily centered on those characters. Ngl, there's plenty of moments where the show feels like it's the Damon show and sometimes itās Caroline's show(post s6..).
To end this off the reason why I don't blame Elena is simply because in season 6, Elena really lacked a purpose in that season. Bamon/Bonkai OWNED that season. Elena didn't really have a memorable moment to me and a main character should never feel that way but she did. They didn't have anything for her to do besides be Damon's GF. Though despite the messy plotlines TVD has way more reply value than TO does for me even when theirs certain plotlines thatās irritating as fuck lmao.

EDWARD: Letās find out who has that log name, and get it taken care of. Send them a text from Augustus to have him fired, or eliminated.

From my findings, I was able to determine that the genetic structure of the particles had mutatedā¦ I would need to do more research to figure out exactly what it is. But Iām pretty certain itās some type of virus; or at least it behaves like one.
DAMON: A virus? What the hell do they plan to do with that?
SAGE: Infect a high percentage of the population... Or, as they like to say, ācleanse the worldā.
